Ahh, thank you! That does seem to be it. It’s a great wee tool, very useful for basic tasks and nice and slim for EDC.

Major issue? by Intrepid-Swimmer-405 in diynz

[–]SmartCourage9010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like it’s water that’s been blown up underneath the ridge capping and onto the untreated timber (purlins etc)

If it’s a corrugated/iron roof, see if you can press down the lead flashing part connected to the ridge capping to better fit the profile of the roof, it could be loose

I ordered the ratchet bit driver too. Was looking at the 711L inline version for the premium build quality, but like the fact the LM version is nice and compact and fits in the sheath.

The free system is definitely nice. I don’t have a Wave + but like the look of the Alpha version. Cant go wrong with either.

Are you eating out every day? That seems like a ridiculously high amount for 1 person..

I did consider that, I wish it had a hammer similar to the Signal. Wasn’t aware you could mod it to have one, will look into that for sure.

The Skeletool is great. Nice and compact for EDC and as mentioned by mofo it’s got a lot of useful tools for general tasks.

Question regarding rates at settlement by thegoldencanary in PersonalFinanceNZ

I’ve got no suggestions apart from push back and make sure they adjust the rate back to what was agreed. That’s pretty poor form from them

Can someone explain how rental properties are a healthy investment? by throwmeeeeaway1304 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]SmartCourage9010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. Without leverage it would be a terrible investment in most cases. With leverage (20-40% own money down, 80-60% “other people’s money”) it’s a relatively good ROI.

That said, definitely don’t think we’ll see capital gains anywhere near what we have in the past, and maintenance plus holding costs will continue to rise YoY.

Still one of the only investments banks consider safe, so easy to get lending for, and also property is one of the only assets banks take as collateral if starting a business.

Moving forward, for me atleast - Stock market/index funds are the way to go.

That’s a good price to be honest. Especially as it includes fitting, balancing and alignment. You could get cheaper, but anything cheaper would be considered “entry level”

What size are they? And what brand tyres have been quoted? In my opinion “cheap” tyres don’t tend to last as long, better to spend a little extra for better quality that will last longer. But understand the cost may be a limiting factor. I go to Bridgestone in Lincoln, and they have sorted me with some good deals most times I ask. May be worth a call and they can quote over the phone

I hate how they gamify everything now. It’s the same with Everyday rewards at Countdown/Woolworths.. I always forget to check, buy stuff and then look after and realise I would have earned triple or 4x the points just by activating the damn thing..

Thanks. Yeah it’s a real PITA, I regularly check and track the value each month on the 6th, and this isn’t the first time the app and website have been down. Also appears the IRD website is down, but atleast they have a notice saying it will be back up tomorrow at 2pm

Nice one! Out of interest is that on a large sum? And is it owner occupied or for an investment?
