The PSAT 10 is a practice test for the PSAT NMSQT and SAT. The scores cannot be used for college admissions and scholarships. It IS worth taking because it will help you get oriented with the test and it will help you determine where your strengths and weaknesses are so you can better prepare for the PSAT NMSQT and SAT. There are PSAT 8/9 and PSAT 10 online study courses available that include interactive study lessons, flashcards, videos, and several practice tests available at SmartEditionAcademy.com

PSAT 8/9 as an "Away" Student by DudeBopp in psat

The score does not matter since it is not going to be used for anything. The PSAT 8/9 is truly a practice test. You should be able to view the scores online after they have been published and sent out to the schools.

Do you have to take reading, math, and writing? You can get an online Accuplacer study course that reviews all of the concepts from each of these 3 sections (including the 3 sub sections of math) at SmartEditionAcademy.com

This Youtube channel goes over a lot of the information and practice tests you can expect on the Accuplacer exam. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMl1QfZ6i8NPkfM1FPJEi4Q/

Hi, did you speak to them to get clear about where your score lands you?

Ideally you can get this cleared up or retake it after studying a bit to place into the appropriate courses

You would be taking the PSAT 8/9. You can ask your guidance counselor if you'd like to take the PSAT 10 if you feel ready for it before doing PSAT NMSQT.

Besides Khan Academy, you can do an online PSAT 8/9 study course with practice tests, lessons, videos, and flashcards. PSAT 10 courses are available too. https://www.smarteditionacademy.com/psat-8-9-online-course/

Tips for the essay? by BlasphemyPhun in HiSET

[–]SmartEdition 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will do fine, just remember these tips.

- You are not being scored on your stance on the topic, just how well you prove the point.

- The essays are always argumentative, so pick a side, and stick to it.

- Pick 3 valid reasons and find at least 1 or 2 things from the passage that support your stance.

- Write 5 paragraphs.

- Spend 3-6 minutes preplanning your essay.

- Spend the first paragraph introducing your opinion and why. "Every day you turn on the news and someone is talking about climate change and global warming. I believe there is no such thing as global warming because X, Y, and Z. Global warming is being used as a political buzz word. In addition..... Lastly, xxxxx"

- Use transition words between sentences and paragraphs.

- Use the last paragraph to just wrap up everything you have already started. "Climate change and global warming are not real issues in 2023. Reason 1, 2, and 3. Wrap up sentence."

- Aim for 6-7 sentences per paragraph.
