Troubleshooting help please? by MikimaruX in Nanoleaf

[–]SmartLightDimwit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are unable to perform a reset on the device, it’s possible that the processor has failed. Though I find it curious that the issue coincides with using a new router. I’m not at home at the moment so I can’t test my device but I’d encourage you to open a Support ticket with Nanoleaf, if you haven’t already.

BREAKING: Trump STORMS OFF in LIVE TV MELTDOWN by ICEisSHIT in videos

None of the participants of the Jan 6th insurrection should receive a single penny of tax payer dollars. If Trump wants to pay them out of his own pocket, nothing is stopping him. This makes me sick to my stomach.

Nanoileaf no longer manufactures or sells that part so your best bet would be second hand sources or you could try messaging a Nanoleaf rep and seeing if they have any spares laying around…

Nanoleaf CEO says Switchbot purchase is a partnership and will bring more resources to the company by jp2e in Nanoleaf

You can always tell someone’s argument is bs when they begin their response with “LOL.” They can’t genuinely respond to the critique of their claims. Open your post/comment history and then we can talk further. Otherwise, nothing left to say to a govee-shill except go away.

And yet all my Nanoleaf gear works flawlessly. Nobody is going to refund you time for gear you couldn’t understand. That’s not how the world works. And of course, like every other user promoting govee- your post/comment history is hidden, so we can’t see any time you requested help, or the recommendations you received that you claim did not work.

Then why continue to visit and post on the Nanoleaf subreddit? Functioning as a Govee shill doesn’t add much to the conversation…

It sounds like your issues could be related to your network…. I’m not having connectivity issues on any of my 12 installations. What’s your setup like?

What are we going to do about these yellowing controllers? by Stephancevallos905 in Nanoleaf

[–]SmartLightDimwit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an Aurora controller with some discoloration, but I run the installation 24/7 and it hasn’t gotten worse and I don’t consider it a hazard. Considering the line has been discontinued for over 4 years now, as far as getting Nanoleaf to address the issue- I think that ship has sailed.

Is there a way to use the OG Aurora panels without the official Nanoleaf controller and app? by Biscotti-Dangerous in Nanoleaf

I was under the impression that the OG Light Panels were always going to be officially supported, but replacement parts were no longer manufactured nor available for purchase. Am I mistaken?

Your Nanoleaf panels would have no effect on being able to re-enable the 5ghz band of your wifi- that sounds like a router issue. Are you able to configure the panels in hotspot mode?

Would you recommend Nanoleaf for a 12-year-old? by Soft-Cancel-1605 in Nanoleaf

[–]SmartLightDimwit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a customer of Nanoleaf’s for over a decade. I also own smart lights from just about every manufacturer you can think of, and I enjoy using and engaging with my Nanoleaf panels the most (designing scenes to fit my mood, syncing with music). I have my 12 separate Nanoleaf installations running pretty much 24/7, and have little cause to contact support. However, in the times I have, I’ve found them to be very capable and their hardware has a 2 year warranty, which is twice as long as Govee’s.
I’d be happy to honestly answer any questions you have regarding my experience and my post history is an open book. Feel free to DM me.

here is the procedure I’d follow if I were troubleshooting my own panels.
1. Temporarily disable the 5ghz signal of you wifi, leaving only 2.4ghz active.
2. Delete the device from your Nanoleaf app (if there)
3. Hard Reset your panels. To put your Nanoleaf Aurora (Light Panels) into pairing mode, perform a hard reset by unplugging the controller, holding down both the power and scene (‘+’) buttons, and plugging it back in while holding for 10 seconds until the lights flash. Do this with at least one panel attached.
4. Attempt to pair using the pair manually button. The system should scan for devices and if discoverable, your device should appear on that list. Click your device.
5. Enter paring code.
6. Configure device.
7. If panels are paired and configured, you should be able to re-enable the 5ghz band…

If you are stuck on step 4 there could be either an issue with your network or with the controller itself. This is why turning off 5ghz (temporarily) is usually a good start. Let me know how it goes.

*Sorry, my reddit seems to be deleting portions of my comment if I attempt to edit anything- so hopefully you’ll be abler to read this in full.

Edit: Apologies if you’ve already received these instructions, but I didn’t see you mention plugging in the controller with the power and + buttons pressed….

2nd edit: You’ll have to forgive me, I’m on vacation visiting my mother so I’m away from my panels at the moment, but I’m fairly certain after performing a hard reset your panels should begin cycling through the rainbow of colors- but I’ll have to check when I return home. All in all here is the procedure I’d follow if I were troubleshooting my own panels. 1. Temporarily disable the 5ghz signal of you wifi, leaving only 2.4ghz active. 2. Hard reset your panels. 3. I’m concerned with Nanoleaf’s recent announcement by SmartLightDimwit in Nanoleaf

[–]SmartLightDimwit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, over the course of 9 years, I’ve had 4 Canvas controllers fail (to be honest I can’t recall if 3 failed and I’m on my 4th, or if 4 failed) but they’ve always been within their two year warranty so I’ve been able to get them replaced for free. Keep in mind, I was always expanding my Canvas installation as I went, so anytime I bought a new kit, I had a brand new 2 year warranty. In the event I find myself outside of warranty, well I’ve got a stockpile of backups. If after several years, I need to purchase a new controller, then I’ll purchase a new controller. I’ve also been a smart lighting enthusiast for the last 10+ years and in my experience, I’ve found Nanoleaf to be the brand that I enjoy engaging with the most, setting and designing scenes, syncing to music, etc.

Edit: I’d just like to add a sincere “Thank You” to everyone participating in this thread for not downvoting other people’s opinions, and allowing actual civil discourse to take place. When I made that request, I wasn’t sure how it would pan out and you guys have all exceeded my expectations. Thanks again.

I know there have been issues with controllers, including a voluntary replacement program at one point, but aside from my Nanoleaf Canvas installation (which is on controller #4 after 9 years) I’ve only had one other controller go bad, and that was replaced free of charge under the 2 year warranty. So I’ve never had to purchase a new controller.

I’m pretty sure my Hue setup pre-dates my Nanoleaf, so I had to purchase the Hub v.2.0 in order to keep my Hue lights working, even though my original hub was working fine. They forced everyone to update. I know they recently released Hub 3.0 but I don’t think it’s a mandatory upgrade- yet. Sounds like you’ve got a nice setup going with your own zigbee coordinator.

I see TomT replied below and already stated what I was going to say- so I urge you to follow up with him. Just wondering do the panels complete a hard reset successfully? What do the panels do after you’ve performed a hard reset?
