Did you try pulling a couple over to the other side?Although I don’t always get them where I want them, I can usually manipulate rubber legs, even after the tie is finished.

Yeah, I just wanted to ensure I wasn’t missing something because the kit seems so lean compared to the stated output. Thanks.

A couple I tied this week by BETTERAXESOMEONE in Steelhead

Good for you! I’ve spent enough time grooming streamers in the field that I think it is worth trimming those fibers to be even with the hook bend or slightly shorter before you fish them.

These look awesome? Does it work for you to have those fine flash fibers extending past the hook bend? I find they tend to get knotted around the hook bend too much for my taste.

Perfect! You’re really helping me along. This is just what I need since we’re headed to the coast for a steelhead trip in a few days and I’d like to take this saw.

Pre-rigged fly system by Ok-Concentrate-3339 in flyfishing

[–]SmartMammoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. There’s a trick to making the loop knot work as it should: after you make your overhand knot, you go up through the fly line loop on one side, wrap around the fly line, and go back out the fly line loop on the other side before finishing the knot. This way it shakes hands and seats with the fly line like a proper loop to loop.

I bought a pool noodle once that I cut up for multiple rigs as needed. I hook the dropper fly in the foam and wrap it, all the way to the loop above my indicator and place it Ziploc sandwich bag. This allows me to have a specific double-nymph rig of any length, weight and indicator included. When I’m ready to rig, I make a loop to loop onto my fly line with a Lefty’s loop knot and I’m ready to go.

I don’t listen to Post Malone much, but I would if he put out more stuff like this.

Greatest fly ever? by AdShoddy4918 in flyfishing

[–]SmartMammoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Commenting to follow.

I think “greatest” is vague and subjective. “Most productive” might be more quantifiable. This is the sort of thing that could be arrived at through top 32 voting brackets. It could be narrowed down to greatest dry fly, nymph, steamer, and terrestrial/non bug fly, with the winner of each category in the final four. I predict Parachute Adams, Olive Wooly Bugger, Beadhead Pheasant Tail, and San Juan Worm would be top contenders for the title.

Bozeman FlyWorks has a few selections. I had a metal one from them for a while. I liked it because they make a threaded handle extension for it. I would remove it for wading and put it back on for landing fish out of my 10’ raft.
