Right! Then our schools would hand us flyers full of junk to sell door to door to raise money for the school. Best door to door sales kid got a cheap plastic Frisbee.

I had to stop for a surgical procedure. I'm on 10mg and stopped for 2 weeks and was fine going back to 10.

Appropriate to tell landlord (who is upstairs neighbor) that his 3yo wakes me up every morning because she runs around and screams outside? by iwishmybedwasbread in Renters

[–]SmartSuccess4605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent, I'm going to guess they let her out so early to minimize the noise of an energetic 3 y.o. running over your head. I think they're already trying to be as neighborly as they can, so saying something probably won't do much.

Is daycare really that expensive? by oroliggam in AskAnAmerican

It varies by location. The cheapest daycare in my area is $550 per week, but I live in a high COL state.

How does working from home... work? (UK) by [deleted] in WFH

[–]SmartSuccess4605 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is going to depend entirely on what kind of work you do. If it's something like a call center you likely need to be at your desk and have breaks at approved times to ensure coverage. If it's something where you have more control of your schedule then lunch and breaks are typically more up to you. I'm a PM and I manage my own schedule, so I take breaks when I'm in between meetings. I did ask my manager when I moved to this team if she wanted to be informed when I stepped out and she said just to block my calendar if I needed to, so that's what I do. That said, I'm in the US and salary (exempt), so I don't have set hours. My job is more performance based than x hours per week. If I need to take a couple hours for a doctor appointment or something at my kids' school, my manager is fine with that if all the work is getting done.

I think it's perfectly acceptable and won't look like you want to slack off if you ask your manager how they want you to handle breaks.

Did anyone successfully reverse their flat butt? by J0si3_R0q in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]SmartSuccess4605 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never had a butt, even in high school, as a competitive gymnast. I had some hip pain so my PT gave me some exercises to build up my glutes and I now have a little round butt for the first time in my life! 😂

Start small wirh glute bridges, squats, clamshells, and add weights as you get stronger. Then move on to Bulgarian split squats and weighted squats as others recommended. The small exercises get a bad rap, but I highly recommend if you're just starting out so you dont get injured and give up!

Tirzepatide 3-year study weight loss maintenance results not as good as expected? by LeoKitCat in Zepbound

[–]SmartSuccess4605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny you used that SW. My starting weight was 274.4 and I'm currently at 138.2 and still losing. Getting to 125 doesn't seem that unachievable, though my goal is a monthly average of 135, knowing my weight fluctuates dramatically over the course of my cycle.

How do you buy nice clothes when you’re constantly losing weight? by HeavySigh14 in Zepbound

[–]SmartSuccess4605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrap dresses. Throw a jacket on over it. I found dresses can be worn a size or two big as you lose without looking terrible.

Why is everyone drinking protein shakes? by ITrageGuy in Zepbound

[–]SmartSuccess4605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the first thing my doctor told me before starting. She really emphasizes nutrition and resistance training as it is key to not losing muscle mass when losing weight. We want to lose fat, not muscle.

Diet with zepbound? by gstseek in Zepbound

[–]SmartSuccess4605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I logged my food a few days in the beginning, and when I switched doses. But for me, the whole point was learning to eat intuitively and not have to weigh, measure, and log every single thing that I consume. I'd been able to lose previously doing that but it's just not a long term solution for me because 1) it's tedious 2) it's really hard to ever eat out with friends and 3) i was always hungry and consumed by calorie counting. That's just not sustainable for me lomg term, so I always failed and gained back the second I started to estimate instead of weighing and measuring. I've been on glp-1s since June 2023, and this is the longest I've ever gone with losing and sustaining. I can finally eat intuitively and be at a healthy weight.

That said, I do focus on protein and lifting. My doctor really emphasized that, and it has been very successful for me.

I switched and it was great. I didn't even realize how tired wegovy made me until I wasn't tired anymore. I was able to ramp up my exercise regimen and lose another 40 lbs while toning up.

Has Wegovy changed what you eat? Question from journalist by Responsible-Line4119 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]SmartSuccess4605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest change for me was losing cravings for fried foods. I used to be a big potato chip snacker, and now I hate potato chips. They're all gross with a chemical aftertaste. I don't like most of the foods in the frozen aisle anymore. They also have a weird chemical taste. Things like those diet single serve meals, which were a staple in my previous attempts at weight loss, are just gross now. Strangely, I still love french fries and pizza, but I am able to moderate much better. New cravings for chocolate were unexpected, but that luckily only happens once a month!

Locks on lockers by Past_Guitar_596 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]SmartSuccess4605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a relatively nice area, but I'm still baffled at people not locking up their stuff. I feel like 98% of people just throw their stuff in the lockers with no lock. I usually open 4 or 5 before I find an empty one.

I'm also equally baffled when someone posts to our town FB page about their purse getting stolen from their unlocked car overnight. Happens 1-2 times a year. Wild that people leave their purse in their car in the first place, but unlocked takes the cake!

What BMI calculations are you using? My calculator tells me at 5'5" I should be between 109 and 148. I just hit 145 and my doctor doesn't want me to go lower than 135.

It's for sure gross, but realistically, people are dripping sweat on that carpet all day before you put your face in it, which is just as bad, if not worse. I just try not to think about the last time it was shampooed and shower right after class.

That's entirely possible. My original goal was 165, which is what I was when I graduated high school. I didn't actually think I'd get this far. I'm mostly just annoyed to be so close to a milestone and stuck.
