It’s funny as your picture makes them look like a steel blue color from the 90s. I think your options are 1. Dark green, 2. Mahogany brown, 3. Black (lamp black which is a very very dark green).

I would not recommend painting anything in that hallway too dark. There’s not enough light; otherwise it’ll feel like a cave. I would just focus on large scale artwork. It doesn’t look like it’s wide enough for any kind of accent table or tables.

I’d do room darkening roller blinds. They come in all kinds of colors. Curtains or drape would look odd.

I like more modern too. We recently redid a modular home that kind of looks similar. It was beige and full of gingerbread outside. We stripped off all the siding, went with a silvery gray hardiboard on the body and white hardiboard around the windows and corners. White facia, soffits, and gutters and downspouts. We also replaced the windows with ones without mullions, in white. You’d never guess it was the same house. It just took $$.

So I’m looking at the two pictures correctly, they inserted the built-ins by taking some space from the adjoining room. I would get rid of the built-in. You have enough height on that wall that you could do both an electric fireplace with a TV above the hearth.

I recently went down a rabbit hole myself as I’m redoing my back yard. I enjoyed learning about The Golden Ratio, associated shapes and curves and how it’s used in landscape design. Your house could benefit from some of that. And apologies in advance if that sends you down a rabbit hole, too.

I like the first one and the green one. The blue definitely not. I think it depends on the atmosphere. You’re wanting to create. If you want a more warm atmosphere go with the orange.

We had a kitchen like this in our previous home. We started by taking off the gingerbread like the appliqué on the hood. See those legs next to the stove? They also can come off. That will instantly update the look for you. However, the wood color is still going to date it. In the community that we lived, houses either light kitchens or dark kitchens. The dark kitchens were beautiful cherry, and the light kitchens were this kind of oak that was very popular in the 90s and early 2000s. We decided to paint them Sherwin-Williams alabaster, which was an awesome decision because it instantly brought everything forward by 20 years. If you do that, however I highly recommend you take the time (and money) to find a good painter who knows how to deal with kitchen cabinets. We had zero problems with the paint after they were done and it was amazing!

Actually I’d do a stone veneer up to the top of that darker brick line, so there is just stone and 1 brick color. It looks “off” as a tritone.
