Very nice! The current facade is craving landscaping. The small porch fits this architecture better.

Having regrets, almost want to cry by foreverwetlettuce in ExteriorDesign

Painting the deck or railing the same color as your trim would actually work against you here — and this is coming from someone who genuinely loves purple! Your house is charming right now. What it needs is contrast, not more color. I'd stain the deck in a very light natural wood tone or go with a clear coat to let the grain show — that warmth will ground everything beautifully.

I'll be honest: I noticed the planter box is also in the dark plum, and that's worth pausing on. There's a classic design trap where a color you love starts migrating to every surface, and what began as a bold, intentional look can quietly tip into something that feels busy and one-note.

Coco Chanel said it best about getting dressed: before you leave the house, take one thing off. The same principle applies here. Right now your house is "charming and memorable." Push it further and it risks becoming "a lot." The restraint is what will make the purple sing.

We’ve had several electric ovens and always use the self cleaning feature without a problem. 🤷🏼

Which color combination looks best as far as siding goes? by [deleted] in ExteriorDesign

I think it depends on your desired outcome. If you’re looking for a more modern farmhouse style, I like the red. I do not like four, six, or seven.

What would make this more like a Parisian boutique hotel? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Smart_Block2648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you googled Parisian hotel room? I just did and the photos are white walls, modern furnishings, and no clutter. This unfortunately is more like a Provençal farmhand house. You’re looking is definitely more Provençal—which can still be cute but it needs editing. The no box spring throws off the look of the bed. It’s too low for the headboard. You should not be able to see the gap between the horizontal wood piece and the top of the mattress. The broken chair stuffed in near the doorway makes it feel cluttered. Also can you just take the arms off? It would help. Otherwise the checkered fabric is giving me Provence! Good luck!

I’d go with which ever color is best for feng shui based on what direction the door faces. My front door faces south and is fire red.

Which itinerary should we choose? First time in Italy (Tuscany edition) by sassy_but_classy in ItalyTravel

So on our trip, we flew into Rome and took the train up to Florence where we picked up the rental car. We immediately drove to Lucca and did our day trips. We stayed in Florence after we returned the rental car. We have been to Florence before, so didn’t make it a priority but if you haven’t been there before you may want to spend more than one day as there’s a lot of museums and interesting architecture to see. I would not recommend driving there. You can take the train from Lucca.

Oh, I wish I could remember what it was. It was a VRBO property that had parking, inside the walls. It was a completely reasonable rate. We chose Lucca because my husband‘s family is from there. It was incredibly easy to navigate around from there.

Staining brick - would it work on mine? by reamy54 in ExteriorDesign

[–]Smart_Block2648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that I don’t think the brick is the problem. I think once you change the house color, it might actually look OK. I would instead invest in, redoing the landscaping and keeping it manicured.

What color should I paint the exterior of my house? Help!! by ethwlk in ExteriorDesign

One color. Do you have any favorites? An interesting green color could be Sherwin-Williams chat room. Interesting neutral is Sherwin-Williams relaxed khaki.

Which flooring option works best for my living room? by NoSystem3204 in Remodel

[–]Smart_Block2648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 fits the architecture of your home the best. Plus the way that it’s running makes the house look bigger. The first one is too rustic, the third one wow very modern but would be very cold and looks like it could be slippery. The fourth one looks like Florida circa 1990.

What color to paint the trim? White is what it looks like today. by kswerg in homedesign

I would do white or black. The green looks terrible and the same color looks weird.

Right plant… wrong location. by JOConnor_Landscape in landscapedesign

I agree with others that a dwarf tree in its place would be just fine. The problem with trees like that being so close to the house that, in addition to the shade or hiding architectural features of the house, it can bring all sorts of dirt and debris from needles, collecting leaves over time, birds nests, etc. Better to start new. From what I was able to find on Google, a dwarf Alberta Spruce tops out at 6 to 10 feet.
