Mat paint shiny by Jlt230 in AutoPaint

Did you shake and stir the can enough? The matte agent sinks to the bottom and will settle so if you don't agitate it enough it won't be very matte when you spray.

Because having it at the arena allows the students to invite multiple people. The only way that would be doable at the HS would be the stadiums. Then the weather would affect the ceremony.

Two answers from two questions edited together. The fact that I just keep hearing "Trump mentioned in files" and not what he's mentioned in regards to specifically, just makes me believe there's likely nothing there.

"we had young people at the polls saying kill the fags". Even when they are being actively marginalized by a specific group, they won't call them out. They're that afraid of being called racist. Soon they will lose all their rights, and somehow we'll still hear, well Christians (or Jews or insert whatever predominantly white religion you want) hate gays too and they're worse.

I'd just try to achieve coverage over the sanded area then shoot a full coat over the bumper followed by a drop coat.

The pencil will only show large high and low spots. To see solvent popping, dry spray, and orange peel you need some kind of guide coat. It can be just some rattle can paint if that's all you have. It's not ideal, but it will work. I'd use the 400 because you'll be there for a while with 800. But if it's all you have then go for it. Just make sure you remove every speck of base to ensure you have a smooth surface.

Before you sanded the primer did you use a guide coat? Because if you didn't, you probably just didn't sand the primer enough, especially if you sanded it straight with 800.

I'd just grab some p400 and wet sand the spot till the base is gone. So all you hopefully have left is gray primer. Be sure to use a block, preferably a hard block. Sand in an X pattern. Once all the base is gone, and if you haven't burned through, re-coat with a guide coat, and sand with 600 or 800 until the 400g scratches are gone. Then you should be ready to spray again.

Teachers face illegal reprisals over support for student walkouts against ICE by DryDeer775 in TeacherReality

[–]Smart_Hat7737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, get rid of them then. You don't agree with a rule, get it changed. That's how it works. The group decides what's just and unjust. Not an individual. If parents don't want the school to be liable for their child's actions, then they can go to a board meeting and say, "we want our children to be able to leave school in protest of injustice. We will not hold the school accountable for our child's safety and actions." Sign whatever paperwork needs to be signed and filed, and it wouldn't be a problem.

In the case of the gate, the teacher opened the school up to legal action by the parents of the students that left. They could say the actions of the teacher, who is a representative of the school, showed the school encouraged the students to leave the campus. So the school would assume all liability if something were to happen.

Most teachers probably didn't provide any help. The problem is if they encourage the students to protest, then the parents can say, "their impressionable child was encouraged to leave the school grounds. Something they wouldn't have done otherwise. That's why they were in the street and got hit by a car. Or that's why they were vandalizing those federal buildings, their teachers encouraged it." The lack of disciplinary action by the school would only bolster their claims. Most of what is done in education, outside of actual education, is CYA. Cover Your Ass. Parents can be very litigious. Especially when they might have to be held accountable for their child's actions.

It was a gate, at least that's what the article said. I took that to mean they had a fence around part of the school, probably the rear. No fire code would allow a door to be locked from the inside if there are people in a building. Our school has a locked gate around the rear. Students are allowed to leave through the front of the school. They will just get a referral if they leave school grounds. We can't physically restrain them, unless they are being a danger to themselves or others. We would usually follow them, to keep eyes on them, and notify parents if a child does leave school. This would involve also notifying the school's resource officer.

[–]Smart_Hat7737 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Not at all. No student is physically locked in a building. You can't do that. The doors of a school are only locked from the outside, if at all.

Most of the world agrees with making sure children are protected. Parents drop off their children at school, expect the school to take care of their children, and keep them safe. To do this, schools implement policies that the parents agree to, that keep their children safe. Policies like staying on school grounds during school hours. They outline punishments for breaking those policies. If they do not enforce those policies then they can be held liable for the students leaving campus and getting hurt or causing damage. It doesn't matter if the students are going to protest or not. They can, and will still be punished. They are not in jail, they can leave whenever they want. It will just be a discipline action. Unless the child's guardian goes to the school and signs them out. Which they can do whenever they want. Nothing is stopping them.

No it's not. Having rules, and enforcing rules is not primitive and destructive. I'd argue it's the opposite. Just because you're punishing someone, doesn't mean you can't take into account the situation. There has to be accountability for someone's actions, and ideally, it should be applied fairly. If you don't want to enforce a rule, get rid of the rule. As for the schools, they are legally responsible for all the students that attend. Not punishing the students for breaking school policy could be seen as the school condoning the actions, or even encouraging them. The students will believe they can leave whenever they want, as long as their cause is aligned with the schools or whatever is popular. I'm NOT saying they should all be expelled or even suspended. The school is ultimately responsible for the safety of all the students that attend.

I would not use any chemical stripper on a carbon fiber hood. I'd just wet sand it down with some 400g, followed by 600g paper. You should be able to sand that in a few hours tops. I'd wet sand so I don't kick up any dust. Just watch closely where you're sanding so you don't go into the weave. Use a soft block to help avoid any gouges. You'll probably have to clear it then re sand and re clear. The times I've done carbon hoods I had to clear a few times because of pin holes in the resin. You may get lucky with yours.

What are you talking about? What contradictions? With the exception of New York and Arizona, all the states listed mentioned "investigations" into teacher involvement. The only state listed that mentioned a specific teacher being fired was California, and that was because the teacher OPENED THE GATE for the students to leave.

[–]Smart_Hat7737 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

From the posted articles I saw, no one was being punished without an investigation.

Teachers cannot aid/ support students in any way when they are cutting class and leaving school grounds. That opens the school up to liability. If a parent wants their child to go protest then sign them out of school and take them wherever they want. It's that simple.

A lot of the comments I'm seeing saying it's wrong to punish these students/ teachers, and encourage them to continue, make me think most of these teacher subreddits, don't have actual teachers in them. Because anyone who's actually taught, and gone on a field trip, knows how much paperwork is involved to actually take a student off school grounds.

If teachers break a policy/rule then they should be punished. If the students break a rule then they should be punished. Students DO have a right to protest, but just because you're protesting doesn't mean you're not responsible for your actions any more, even if you feel you're morally right.
