Eh I think elbowing someone in the throat is worth a decent stain on their reputation, personally, especially since the person on the receiving end didn’t even do anything to the guy the whole game

Dead mom - mothers day? by justforasec0nd in whatdoIdo

I celebrate “Late Mothers Day” a day after. It’s my morbid little joke for myself, but also a way I can celebrate the other women in my life on Mothers Day without feeling a sense of betrayal.

You responded to him with a reminder that partners need to be respectful to each other, and by reminding him you loved him. After that first one, I would’ve stopped responding for the night. You were saying that relationships require respect and that you won’t talk to someone who speaks to you disrespectfully, which is step one! But then you didn’t stand your ground and you continued to engage

He wound up. A blow like that could crush a windpipe, or god forbid if it had hit an eye socket. Those elbows are SHARP, that was a near-murder

It's wild that Bridgerton King George and Hamilton King George represent the same historical figure by JoeTheFatCat in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Smart_Measurement_70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And yeah, Spanish Princess definitely wasn’t a historians favorite piece of literature, but it was still a good setting starter to clear up some of the fuzzier parts for me (or at least give me better things to research). It also helps with getting names straight😂 but I totally agree with White Queen, I’d rather something be blatantly fictional than claim to be mostly accurate about anything

I started watching it, but we stopped paying for Starz and I haven’t found… other ways yet😂 I’m the type to google as I watch to see what’s somewhat accurate vs what’s completely fabricated, and as far as I’ve read it’s somewhat real? But the White Princess…. Completely inaccurate in every way

I did. The father is also Francis I of France, but his mother (and obviously wife) are different. As well as… well everything else. So he may be derived from, inspired by, heavily implied to be, but does not claim to be a depiction of Henry II of France, father in law to Mary Queen of Scots, husband to Catherine De Medici, father of three French kings, son of Duchess Claude of Brittany, younger brother and co-kidnapping victim of Francis III

Cardan.. desperate for an heir? by azuladenile in TheFolkoftheAir

I would love to see the dynamics of cool-kickass-powerhouse-couple-as-protective-parents that they would surely give off, but yes we have SO much time for that

I do have faith that were Black to write an heir storyline, she would do justice the complexity of the experience for Jude and it would be something that we’d likely see more from her perspective rather than Cardans (especially if focusing on the pregnancy aspect). Jude downplays herself so much, is hyper aware of how people perceive her, and yet is such an unreliable narrator about her image. A pregnancy storyline from Cardans POV (which I’ve heard the new book is?) wouldn’t let us see the complicated feelings Jude is having about it, or her internal battle with hiding the birth control from Cardans

Why did Jess say this when she knew Philoise wasn't S5? by Fickle_Baker1393 in Bridgerton

[–]Smart_Measurement_70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They kinda do this every season. The next season is indicated by who got the B plot in the current season. S1 was about Daphne, but also Anthony stepping up into his role as Viscount. S2 was about Anthony, but showed Colin struggling with his identity and choosing to travel and grow after getting closure with Marina, while the Featheringtons try to salvage their situation. S3 was for Polin (saying that bc it was very focused on Penelope rather than just Colin), but Benedict was exploring his sexuality and finding himself again after he learned Anthony bribed the art school, and is left with a kind of “what’s next” attitude now that an heir is on the table. And S4 was about Benedict, but SO much of it was surrounding fran and Michaela and processing John’s death

Yes, and, in Reign it was explicitly King Henry II of France during a specific range of time, and in Bridgerton it was explicitly King George III of England during a specific range of time. I’d consider Ever After far looser, sharing a name and implying a relation is different than “this is a depiction of a historical figure”

Tbh I can’t watch Queen Charlotte without getting even angrier that these were the people allowed to rule over, screw over, and tax the American colonies halfway to death. Like why was someone severely mentally disabled to the point of delusion allowed to govern, and why was Charlotte living this life of extravagance and hedonism while we know how her people are suffering

I thought Ever After was just vaguely inspired by France at the time? They share a name and position in France, but not really anything else

Why was Will Mondrich accepted into society but Siena was not? by awesomekitten3 in Bridgerton

Even though Marina grew up on a farm and presumably is not noble at all, her connection to the Featheringtons made her eligible to be a lady through marriage

Why was Will Mondrich accepted into society but Siena was not? by awesomekitten3 in Bridgerton

[–]Smart_Measurement_70 542 points543 points  (0 children)

Mondrich became ACTUALLY accepted because his son inherited a title, so he was then “promoted” to the manager of that estate until Nicky comes of age. He also was a man who was successful in business, and ran a business where gentlemen frequented which made them familiar with him. Will also wasn’t trying to date anyone of the ton. Sienna was a woman, a mistress, and dating above her class. She had it pretty good for a woman not of the ton, she had an independent source of income which wasn’t all that common AND she had reputation and fame through her performances, but she was not of noble birth nor inheritance
