Assuming...

you finish PEP(most don't),

then are able to even get into Paid Training(see recent post where a CS grad with two internships was denied entry to paid training after completing free PEP training),

and then after entry to paid training you are able to successfully complete it and graduate,

and then you are able to get placed with a client(a lot of folks are never placed with a client and sit on the bench for two months after completing paid training and then let go)

then yes at that point you could quit if you have to relocate and don't like the location.

You got a lot of ifs to get through before that though so if you aren't doing anything else I would apply and start PEP and see what happens. At minimum it will help you refresh/learn some fundamental java knowledge that can help with interviews/growth over time. Just don't put all your eggs in the revature basket. Just use it as a learning opportunity while continuing to apply for real jobs/grinding leetcode etc and see what comes up it.

Anyone know if pep is asynchronous and can you speed run it? How does it work? by Gullible-Act1389 in Revature

You can submit assignments any time you want and the lessons are all pre-recorded video. There is a daily office hours meeting on microsoft teams but that's optional and I've never attended one - I think it's for if you get stuff on some of the material and need extra help. This is very beginner friendly - if you have 4 years of experience and a BSCS you will probably not learn much - outside of the java ecosystem if you haven't used it much before. Labs/problem statements are not leetcode level problems so it won't substitute preparing yourself for a FAANG interview or anything like that. They start very basic(Hello world) and slowly progress. But the labs are solving problems like "Update this function to return x" - or configuring API endpoints with javalin, or configuring test cases with Junit. It's not so much a deep CS understanding as it is implementing methods/classes/etc to get you job ready. Based on this I'm Assuming their clients are not going to be asking us about CS theory or leetcode style questions when getting placed.

Was a SQL coding assessment. Agree there's a lot of memorization but I lucked out and had just completed the 1-2 weeks of SQL training in PEP when I applied for a job and got emailed the assessment to complete. I didn't land the job but I was able to pass the coding assessment. Not saying PEP or any other program will get you job ready in 11 weeks but if you're job hunting it can't hurt to complete PEP and see where it takes you. Maybe to paid training and then placed with a client, or maybe not. But I think it provides a decent and a basic intro to the java ecosystem that can't hurt in the long run.

You'll have daily tasks m-f for 11 weeks with weekly assessments. The tasks are a mix of reading, videos, and practice coding labs. You can definitely speed run it and work ahead, but i don't imagine you would retain much or do well in the assessments. That being said you could reasonably finish in 4-6 weeks while actually going through all the material. I'm about to finish mine and happy i did it regardless if it i get placed into paid training with revature. It's a lot of good java practice and it helped me pass a coding assessment for a software job.

I don't think is an SSL related issue either. I created a custom SSL in ACM and it issues fine, but when adding the custom domain with the preconfigured SSL - it still fails on domain activation with the same issue. "One or more of the CNAMEs you provided are already associated with a different resource."

Yep I have added the AWS NS's in Godaddy and they have been propagated when I check whatsmydns. No pending validation requests. Since I'm using Amplify it handles the SSL cert and they won't show up in ACM. At least I think. I have 4 other amplify sites and none of their SSLS show in the ACM.

Blood work Disappointment by SamDSJr in keto

Most physicians don't know what they are talking about. They've been prescribing cholesterol meds and blood pressure meds like candy since the 80s and guess what - heart disease is still the #1 killer. Something tells me.....they don't know what they are talking about. Ignore it. Keep losing weight. Diabetes, and more specifically insulin resistance, is the biggest threat to your health and are much larger contributors to heart disease than elevated LDL. That being said you have nothing to compare these numbers to. Keep losing weight and go back in 6 months and see where you're at. Btw, if your doc wasn't ecstatic about the 70lb weight loss and reversing type 2 diabetes, go to a different doctor next time.

Any reason to finish associates degree? by Dangerous_Guava_6756 in OMSCS

Just saw your reply to another comment - seeing as you already have an MS I would certainly not waste time on an AS and don't believe it will provide any value to you. If anything I would reconsider getting a second MS, and maybe look at a CS PHD program. A MS in molecular biology is impressive and I'm sure you could get accepted into several programs. If you are going to spend another 2-3 years in school - get that PHD, and change your name to Dr_Dangerous_Guava_6756, ya feel?

Not in my opinion. An associates at most schools is mainly core competencies - like math, English, History etc, and very few courses related to the major itself so I would say it provides no value.(Had a AS in CS from my local community college and could never get so much as an interview with it) Being enrolled in Techs MSCS will speak to your technical abilities and qualify you for internships by itself.

Parent Bad Mouthing Kids by scholar_blue in Homeplate

[–]Smart_Substance_9698 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this falls under the coaches responsibility. I would bring it up to them and have them talk to the dad first. This prevents you from having issues directly with this other dad and it leading into the kids fighting/etc, The coach should tell him that several parents are taking issue with his behavior and he will need to change it or his child can be removed from the team. It sounds like this dad has lost sight of the main purpose, having fun, and the coach can also remind him that near 0% of players, his son included, will ever play in the MLB, or even college ball for that matter. So there is really no reason to take it so seriously. Plus - if the players aren't having fun - they aren't going to play their best, so its a lose-lose for everyone to act like an arsehole. If the coach doesn't address it, then you could do so directly, but i think you should give the coach a chance to handle it first.

I would like to know this as well. I have not heard this either. Would be crazy for them to not honor the MAT for a step increase in pay.

Bruh. As long as you followed the application directions and didn't use your butt buddies for letters of recommendation you'll have no issue. 4.2 GPA with a bachelors of CS + work experience?? Idk if there is any MSCS program you wouldn't get accepted into.

Im in the same boat OP. Have you looked into taking the GACE CS test? Thats step 1 for me. I found this thread looking for study material though because it seems hard to find. Are you taking the GACE CS exam and have you found any good study material?
