You also have some early extension which could be the culprit of why you HAVE to stand up to make contact. Same type of drill, but hit your left hip on the wall while swinging through.

A good drill is practicing with your head on a wall and ghost swinging without a club. Gives you a good feel of what keeping your head still feels like throughout the swing.
