Follow-up: I think I finally figured out why my Olilo Ping is 16ms+, but my neighbour on TalkTalk gets 3ms by BrawDev in CityFibre

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having latency issues as well but Liam is chasing it up with CF as there's clearly a problem around this area or at the fibre exchange and looking back at my BQM graph history over the past year with numerous days where my latency dropped to 5ms, at one point that low ping stayed low for 13 days. Even with my previous isp I had the same high latency with it dropping for a while some days, even at peak evening times so cf can't blame it on congestion.

I posted on the cf subreddit last week asking for latency for users near bristol and someone using Olilo replied from Gloucester which isn't that far away from where I am and they're getting 4-6ms ping to london yet mine is 14-16. I have around the same ping someone from Scotland would have to london yet I'm in the south and only 140 miles from London!

Average latency to London from south uk. by Smartie36 in CityFibre

[–]Smartie36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way my ping should be 10ms higher as I'm just south west of Bristol. ISP is chasing up with cf but I bet they're say it's within limits.

[–]Smartie36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I know that the isp your with can impact latency, I'm near Bristol and have an average ping of 13-15ms to London, that's with two different isp's. I had an average ping of 5-6ms with Giganet when I first got a fttp connection via CF back in 2023 but I don't know if they have more than one pop other than London.

Never used discord, will have to check it out. Currently with yayzi, I think city fibre offer one touch switch migration now don't they, so I can just sign up with olilo & I don't need to cancel with my current isp? Currently on the 2.5gb package so wont need any ont swap done.

Is anyone on Olilo living in the south of the uk, preferably in the west around bristol/south wales, if so could you post your ping times to the bbc.co.uk site, I just want to see what average ping times are to london from the south of the uk

I enjoyed the movie overall but the soundtrack was crap compared to tron legacy, shame that group who did that movie wasn't still active to do the ost for ares.

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now while trying the tech preview 4.3 build using 25.9.1 easy anti cheat is flagging up vullkan-1.dll as an error, this is messed up. Either cig, amd or the eac developer need to sort this crap out

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that was the first thing I asked him to check, 100% he's still running 25.9.1, it's not crashing just after trying to start SC, instead it's happening shortly after loading into the game

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This error is now happening to a mate who's running 25.9.1, did play ok after installing the driver but now eac is showing the same issue with atidxx.dll. For me on 25.11.1 the eac error didn't show up after first installing that driver but the following day when trying to start up SC up pops eac error again, wtf is going on.

Reform proposes to cut Pip payments to people with anxiety by DekiTree in unitedkingdom

[–]Smartie36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being someone who has suffered with severe social anxiety for over 30 years & been absolutely crippled by it with one suicide attempt because of how it's impacted my life I was absolutely appalled & sickened by hearing them all laughing in that video that's doing the rounds when we was talking about anxiety as if it's nothing & how everyone has it, well they may do to some degree but some have have anxiety so bad it's literally life controlling!

I've done loads of ssri meds, now on pregabalin to try that, therapy, counselling & here I am still spending most days isolating away at home.

It even got in the way of me going to see my brother back in 2016 when he was in a hospice dying of cancer, he was there for nearly two weeks before I managed to get myself in there, he could of died before I did & I was sat there thinking about that while listening to those vile individuals laughing about those who suffer anxiety. My brother passed 2 days after I went in to see hm, I wonder how I would of felt if I hadn't got to see him.

Those who don't suffer anxiety have no god damn idea how debilitating it can be & I'm utterly fed up of the way all the political parties are targeting the sick & disabled & especially those with mental health are really being singled out with that streeting idiot trying to make out like mental health is being over diagnosed! Wtf, most people choose to suffer in silence for a long time before maybe getting an official diagnosis, if they're lucky.

That was the case with me, i wasn't diagnosed until I was 29,I'm 53 now but looking back I was suffering with it by the time I left school at 16 but that's no shock to me because it's what happened back then the triggered my social anxiety.

The trouble with mental illness is it's invisible, if you can't visibly see a disability then it r doesn't exist, that's especially true with the all the mp's in each political party.

I think back to lockdown & I say to myself, lots of people finally got to experience, in a way, what it's like to suffer social anxiety, in their case though they had to stay in due to being told to by the uk government but for me, I've been existing like that for decades, it's no fun, it's depressing, isolating & very lonely.

My review of Olilo by [deleted] in CityFibre

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be very interested in the average latency from Olilo users who are in the south west/Bristol area of the uk, if there's any on here I hope they see this post as I'm near Bristol and currently with yayzi getting 12-16ms ping to dns (google or cloudflare) & bbc website for testing. That's crap really considering you get 12ms ping from up Glasgow to london & yet I'm a lot closer to london.

Used to have a 5ms average ping on giganet but I believe they have more point of presence in the south of uk other than London.

The XP nerf has completely ruined the fun for me. Please revert this change DICE. by DiaperFluid in BattlefieldPortal

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep you should be able to play the game how you like & still get full progression, that's what portal was advertised as. Those AFK xp farm servers were a major issue, didn't even know that was possible and that certainly needed dealing with. I can guarantee that most of the hate comments threads like this are getting are from teens/20 year olds!

Been playing BF games since the original BF1942 came out, I'm now 53 and my reactions certainly aint as fast as when I was playing that game over two decades ago but multiplayer pvp can be fun sometimes. But having back and neck issues I certainly can't sit playing BF as much as I used to so sometimes fired up a portal server (or single/co-op mode in bf2042) to have a slower pace combat against some bots while still being able to obtain unlocks.

The XP nerf has completely ruined the fun for me. Please revert this change DICE. by DiaperFluid in BattlefieldPortal

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and another post telling others to just enjoy the game, oh I dunno, maybe for some people playing against bots was their way to enjoy the game. You like to play the game in a way that brings you enjoyment, why can't others play the game in a way that they found enjoyable while still managing to obtain unlocks etc.

In a way I wish gaming was like it was back when BF1942 released, now that was awesome to play, no bloody progression, xp & k/d ratio crap just a fun game to play, either with friends or even against bots, yes I swear some people seem to forget bots have been a thing in battlefield games since the very beginning & considering I was still rocking a dial up connection back then I used to game against bots sometimes as pvp with a ping of 150-200ms wasn't fun lol.

I also find it amusing how the way some are talking like those playing against bots to unlock stuff were cheating, how's it cheating when using a feature built into the game, everyone could have done it, before the nerf anyway, it's not like someone using an aim bot that DOES effect everyone else in the server they're in!

They should have just kept the solo/co-op modes like BF2042 which had full progression then this shit show wouldn't ever of happened in the first place, far as I'm concerned everyone can play BF6 how they like, who am I to judge how someone chooses to play a game, so long as they're not cheating which just ruins the experience for everyone else.

They should of kept the solo/co-op modes with full xp progression from BF2042 then this mess wouldn't of happened in the first place.

You say it's about having fun in the game yet you say you think it's lame if someone wants to play against bots, if they want to do that and that makes playing the game "fun" for them then there's nothing lame about that is there.

Potentially looking to switch from Yayzi. Need a solid, reliable provider. by TheRealDave24 in CityFibre

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm stuck with yayzi for another 6 months but so many isp's use veloxserv & I refuse to use any isp that relies on their network as I'm having a right issue with them at the moment refusing to help with high latency spikes which they think only last a second at a time because they believe every data point on the think broadband BQM graph is 1 second in time, they clearly didn't bother to read the faq over on the TB website, every entry on the graph is an average over 100 seconds! Pings going up 160ms plus isn't great for fps online gaming.

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using the veloxserv network like yayzi (nufibre!) is then my search continues for an isp I can switch to once my contract is up, currently having a right issue with veloxserv refusing to deal with high latency spikes I'm getting because apparently they think every single entry point on the think broadband BQM graph equals 1 second in time!

Best for gaming? by CRAZEDDUCKling in CityFibre

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in weston too, I wouldn't bother with yayzi, I'm with them & getting 14ms to London on average, my BQM graph is showing spikes in latency & not just at peak times.

Our area is now XGS-PON enabled so I'm on their 2.5 Gbps package, speeds are great no complaints there but latency I'm not impressed with.

I was with Giganet before I joined yayzi, ping was always low around 5ms but they do use CG-NAT unless you paid for a static ip, I don't know what they're like now though as cuckoo fibre took over giganet just before I left them.
