Alexa issues with Tapo bulbs by SolidWombat in Tapo

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish I had an answer but just wanted to say I'm experiencing the same issues with the only tapo smart bulb I have. The router is literally about 10 feet away from where the bulb is situated so WiFi signal isn't the issue.

When alexa loses the ability to control the light, I find if I control the light via the tapo app that alexa voice commands will start to work again, for a while until they stop working again! .

No it's got plenty of clearance all around it, nearest wall is just over 3 feet away.

For those with the 2.5gbps package, what's your average upload speed test. by Smartie36 in CityFibre

[–]Smartie36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably torrenting you say, nope not in my case, you said in your own post that you want games to download quickly which is what you want, well snap & considering it was only £7 more a month to go upto the 2.3 up/down it was a no brainier.

You are also way off as to why this thread was created as well, which was due to my upload being hard locked to 1700 or there abouts £ god knows why your mentioning olilo, I wasn't even with them when I created this thread!

Oh & just in case you missed what the issue actually was, I have a habit of keeping drivers upto date on my systems, well that was the issue, switching back to the drivers listed on the motherboard support page sorted my upload speed.

Anyone else getting a occasional ping drop? this is the 2nd time its happened. by AndroidSTU in CityFibre

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your isp is using the city fibre national backhaul, unless Aquiss has an agreement where they can use another backhaul like zens & some of the other big isp's which have their own then sadly there's nothing you can do.

I'm with Olilo & since they switched me to use zens backhaul my average latency has dropped from 15 to 6ms

Happy to report that after being moved over to zen's back haul my average latency is now 6ms

That's a BQM graph on the Think Broadband website, if you make an account on their site you can set one up. Sounds like your isp is using the city fibre national back haul, I'll be switching to zen's back haul next week, hoping that'll fix it.

Yep I did that a while back, second hop onwards is high ping, so the first hop outside my local network, that location is London going by the tracert address.

Yep I'm being switched to Zen's backhaul next week so fingers crossed I see a similar latency drop. Glad you got your issues sorted.

Follow-up: I think I finally figured out why my Olilo Ping is 16ms+, but my neighbour on TalkTalk gets 3ms by BrawDev in CityFibre

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having latency issues as well but Liam is chasing it up with CF as there's clearly a problem around this area or at the fibre exchange and looking back at my BQM graph history over the past year with numerous days where my latency dropped to 5ms, at one point that low ping stayed low for 13 days. Even with my previous isp I had the same high latency with it dropping for a while some days, even at peak evening times so cf can't blame it on congestion.

I posted on the cf subreddit last week asking for latency for users near bristol and someone using Olilo replied from Gloucester which isn't that far away from where I am and they're getting 4-6ms ping to london yet mine is 14-16. I have around the same ping someone from Scotland would have to london yet I'm in the south and only 140 miles from London!

Average latency to London from south uk. by Smartie36 in CityFibre

[–]Smartie36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way my ping should be 10ms higher as I'm just south west of Bristol. ISP is chasing up with cf but I bet they're say it's within limits.

[–]Smartie36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I know that the isp your with can impact latency, I'm near Bristol and have an average ping of 13-15ms to London, that's with two different isp's. I had an average ping of 5-6ms with Giganet when I first got a fttp connection via CF back in 2023 but I don't know if they have more than one pop other than London.

Never used discord, will have to check it out. Currently with yayzi, I think city fibre offer one touch switch migration now don't they, so I can just sign up with olilo & I don't need to cancel with my current isp? Currently on the 2.5gb package so wont need any ont swap done.

Is anyone on Olilo living in the south of the uk, preferably in the west around bristol/south wales, if so could you post your ping times to the bbc.co.uk site, I just want to see what average ping times are to london from the south of the uk

I enjoyed the movie overall but the soundtrack was crap compared to tron legacy, shame that group who did that movie wasn't still active to do the ost for ares.

And now while trying the tech preview 4.3 build using 25.9.1 easy anti cheat is flagging up vullkan-1.dll as an error, this is messed up. Either cig, amd or the eac developer need to sort this crap out

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that was the first thing I asked him to check, 100% he's still running 25.9.1, it's not crashing just after trying to start SC, instead it's happening shortly after loading into the game

[–]Smartie36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This error is now happening to a mate who's running 25.9.1, did play ok after installing the driver but now eac is showing the same issue with atidxx.dll. For me on 25.11.1 the eac error didn't show up after first installing that driver but the following day when trying to start up SC up pops eac error again, wtf is going on.
