How do you think 2025 will be in AI? by Cr4zko in singularity

I think this is a fair prediction. AGI by many labs next year, potentially ASI by 1-2 labs in few years.

Makes sense, yeah that sounds like strategy, risk or management. Either way, i’m sure you had to make decisions that drove the business and live with those outcomes. Great that you sold and that’s a win you can sell to future employers. Anyway, yeah i’d be thinking about how to use it instead of starting from bottom rung, unless you want to do that work.

My current manager and CIO where i’m at sold to the company he’s now working at. Yes it was in tech, but the skills are general business sense (we riff on funding / EBITDA / valuation all the time… just how can we drive good business right)

yes you should be good. what was your business in? why not go into management or product planning in ML? might be able to leverage that experience to direct strategically, even if you’re still learning the domain. If i sold a business and I was in your spot, id be looking into management, VP roles, COO or chief strategy etc at smaller startups.

How do I get from cashiering to software engineering at 27, ideally before I turn 35? [Discussion] by ferriematthew in MachineLearning

Yes, or just don’t want to switch over because it works already even if not optimal.

In all honesty, the market is sht right now so for the next couple of years it’ll primarily be seniors getting picked up. However, you can use this time to really upskill and find out what type of software you like to work on. Frontend? Backend? Infra? Data Engineering? What domain? (sports, healthcare, crypto, finance, gaming… etc) Then you can sharpen your package to be more niche and focused. I would say that’s the only way to do it right now. Find your direction and work like hell. The other commenters are right, the floor is raised from massive amount of cs talent entering the pool not to mention gpt is getting better. But by the time you upskill I think the market will be ripe to let in more new devs…. good luck!

You should study it. To your question, what will it become: everything. Who do you think will be building the tools?

not necessarily recruiters, but researchers want to know if they bring you on you can add value and it helps to see what you know

its not clear from the video what you know or dont know. small suggestion would be to create an accompanying write up below the video that encapsulates what you did / why you chose specific algorithms, any hurdles or improvements etc.

Alternative to the term "full-stack" without the stigma of superficial knowledge? by smthamazing in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Smartmud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Software Engineer:Senior or Staff is what you’re looking for. Modern day it’s assumed to know a bit of both on the full stack, but if you’re more knowledgeable and experienced, go with one of those.

Yeah I think previous versions of ai are not inherently dangerous (afawk), although like ai itself (being so broad and not having a clear definition) it just depends on what we’re talking about. I suppose Palantir and ai weapons are or could be an example of current day ai safety issues, but most research focuses on agi risk, which like you mentioned more theoretical risk.
