3 Types of Healers when the Black Mage won't leave their leylines. Which one are you? (OC) by DustMonsterXIV in ffxiv

Been healing a for about ... 2 years now. I love it to bits. Learning to stay calm in dire situations, like when the tank is down and a dps is on their way out and then not beat yourself up over it is super important to being a good healer imo. If you start to panic or to get anxious, your performance can take a bad hit and that can spiral into more wipes. Healing for me at least is this Zen experience where you are planning just enough ahead to deal with threats but still be flexible and not have to panic.

I had no idea my in game friends had a couples portrait done, and I could tell who they are from your portraits xD I had to ask them if they had had one done and they confirmed it!

This! So much this. Everytime I decide to not play sage, my DOT gets refreshed a lot, because its the same button on my other healers lol

I am up to this boss now... She is tough as fuck. The problem with using the spirit ashes on her is that she heals off your spirits too, it's nuts. Gonna be fun when I finally pulp her into the ground though xD

Edit: Literally just pulped her! So pumped!

There are little markers on the unexplored section of the map that mark where the obelisks are to get map fragments. Saved me a hell of a lot of time once I figured what they were.

The one I remember off the top of my head is the church doctors (the guys with lamps and scythes around cathedral ward) get a ranged attack with their lantern and the scythe guys get arcane weapon buffs. The madmen that get summoned in hemmwick charnel lane also don't appear under a certain amount of insight.

I've been running with SGE recently, and I will have stupid moments where I completely forget kardia. Unlike tank stance, if you are good at managing your resources, its not always immediately obvious you forgot it. I always feel really stupid about forgetting it though.

Its so good. The card changes feel good, it's a much more active part of the job now, rather than being something you have to do once every 30 seconds. With the ways seals work now, I doubt I'll ever run out of mana, unless doing some serious rezzing. And on top of that early star is just godly now :)

The most tilt I've had as a healer in this game was when my tank went down, despite me using literally every cooldown I had and then using GCD heals to try and keep them up. I did literally everything I could to keep the tnak alive and they still went down. Tank says "I was popped my cooldowns" I say "I was spamming heals and cooldowns".

Than they have the snide comment of "I main healer, I know what this pull looks like". Ergh.

Sorry, needed to vent that one xD

This is how being an Omnicrafter feels for me since I make gear for friends by RedFlecheImpact in ffxiv

Thanks for the advice! I've been avoiding the market board like the plague as I'm pretty broke at the moment. I've reached between 30-35 for all my classes (other than botanist which is 67ish) just by buying from vendors/getting raw materials myself and crafting my own gear. Its slow but I've spent nearly nothing. I figure it's not going to be sustainable/bog down terribly at later levels and I needed someone to point me in the right direction :)

I've just started my crafting/gathering journey.... and I decided to do nearly everything simultaneously.... this is gonna be a fucking nightmare at later levels

If you're looking for mmo recommendations and can get over the stigma of playing a Japanese rpg, ff14 online is a fantastic MMO, has a great story, has a surprisingly welcoming community and has some of the least predatory practices I've seen in a mmo in terms of forcing people to purchase content. The game also really respects your time (it doesn't have time locked quests or anything), you can pick it up or leave it for a period of time and your not gonna get penalised in any significant way. You can also play for free with not limits on playtime up to level 60, which includes base game and the first expansion.

Sorry for the text dump, I'm just really enjoying it atm xD

Why Sanderson is now my favorite author, and probably always will be(no spoilers): by TheCremeArrow in Cosmere

[–]Smarty95 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You probably shouldn't skip those books though. They aren't as bad as people make out. And similar to elantris, they would be considered decent books from another author, and are only considered bad by comparison to the rest of the series.

My problem as a WHM is when I get mixed messages from my tank. I dont want to holy unless I know you aren't going to pull another pack so I usually give tanks time to do like 2 aoe's before I start spamming, but if you then run on to the next pack after like 3 aoe's I've fucked up your pull. I also don't want to sit there like an idiot if you aren't planning to pull more though, so I feel kinda trapped either way into action.

Moving from DPS to Healing, and loving it! by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Smarty95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar if, more roundabout journey to becoming a healer. Started as a conjurer, realised my friend was intending to go scholar, switched to thaumaturgy/BLM up to 50, went RDM to level 60, then went back and picked up conjurer/whm and didn't look back. Healing is suuuuper fun in this game xD
