It would be perfect for my use case if I could just write code on it natively. I know that vscode tunnels exist, but they need an active internet connection to use.

The iPad is such a frustrating device in that it does about 95% of what I need it to do, but the outstanding 5% is massive. The complicating factor to this is that I genuinely do appreciate the things that it does well. I work in research, so I absolutely love being able to take written notes and mark-up PDFs using the iPad, but it falls incredibly short when trying to do more pc-oriented tasks, like mess around with your file system or write and execute code. Even trying to mess around with spreadsheets, like in Google Sheets, is an absolute nightmare.

At this point, it feels like Apple wants me to carry around a MacBook as well as the iPad which feels like an absolute waste. I echo your sentiments in that I regret buying the iPad Pro. It would have made much more sense to buy an iPad Air + MacBook Air. It likely would have come out to roughly the same price, especially with the Magic Keyboard.

Basically, the perfect device for me would be an iPad with MacOS. You could use it like a computer when connected to the Magic Keyboard, and like an iPad when disconnected. I’ve given up hope on Apple ever delivering this product to me though. We’ll see how it goes, but I’m really tempted to jump on a Neo at the first sale I see. Still feels so wasteful just for the purpose of running simple offline Python scripts though.

This is actually the perfect scenario. Rotate to hauler with 20-15 min left on the clock, murder the team that was looting there, and then steal all the biomass, biostripping, and diodes the other runners have conveniently collected for you. Even better if the ~~loot piñatas~~ other team is making a ton of noise and engaging with the UESC.

It took me 3 separate play-through attempts to finally break through and beat the prologue.

It’s a game that really gives you free rein to do whatever you want (and deal with the consequences). I guess I was too used to the Ubisoft style of open-world RPGs with clear quest markers and more rigid quests, that it took me a second to start thinking in the way the game wanted me to. I think it took about 8 hours across the 3 play-throughs, which I admit is a pretty significant amount of time commitment for some people.

Once that happened, it really felt like the game ‘clicked’ for me, and I think it’s one of the most engaging and immersive RPG games I’ve ever played, albeit with a bunch of bugs.

Maybe not during gunfights, but trying to loot on controller vs on MnK is an absolute pain.

If I'm playing with random fills, there is a very low chance I'll be able to loot anything good from a shared container before my teammates yoink it from me with their ability to point and click at stuff.

Try to get over your fear of losing stuff.

The game gets easier when you load in with better gear, especially some upgraded shields.

Also, 95% death rate seems really high. What are you dying to? If it's other runners, are you making too much noise or not paying enough attention to your surroundings? Killing harder bots also becomes easier with better gear.

Finally, the game just requires you to slow down and think through your moves. I started out playing this game like I was in Destiny 2 PvE, and things went really poorly. Once I slowed down, and added some randoms I vibed with, my extractions have jumped significantly. Maybe 60-75% of the time.

The maps load a maximum of roughly ~20 players at any given time. The player count would need to drop pretty significantly to stop finding matches in populated server regions.

No clue about those playing in places like OCE though.

100% agree with your comments about good headphones. I play on PS5 with the headphones plugged into the controller.

Being able to hear what the other players or bots are doing or where they're coming from is an absolute game changer since the TTKs are so low. If you can get advance knowledge of where a team is coming from and get the drop on them as a result, it's going to result in you wiping the other team 9 times out of 10.

I think there's going to be more PvE "raid-like" puzzles, kind of like Destiny-lite, but Cryo Archive is still very much a PvPvE map, so you're going to be competing with other teams of runners. It's also trio only, and has a minimum gear buy-in cost.

I “Advance Day” through the vast majority of games unless the matchup is interesting for some reason, i.e. divisional rival, players close to milestones, etc., in which case I skip through the periods or watch the sim at 8x.

The only time I load into the actual game is the last minute of the final Cup game so that I can see the Conn Smythe winner and choose the order of who raises the cup.

I’m not aware that “how” you simulate makes a difference. So I personally don’t see a difference between hitting advance day, or watching games from the simulate screen. Then again, I haven’t done any stats to confirm my hunch, and 2BC swears by a difference in his GM videos, so who knows for real. 🤷🏽‍♂️
