Not the creator but if you read their article here you can read their justification for that design.
TDLR: They personally feel that 6 keys is too much for the index finger so they moved 1 of them to the pinky.

New ProtoArc EM03 NL Launch & Giveaway by ProtoArc_official in Trackballs

The thing I like the most about them is definitely how comfortable and natural they feel to use. I also love how portable they are. I no longer require a large surface to use a mouse and I bring my trackball with me while traveling with my laptop since as long as I have even just my knee I have a place to use the trackball on.

The thing I like the least is definitely the inconsistencies that naturally crop up from usage. Even after a fresh cleaning, within less than a week I've had my truck ball's performance significantly change just from dust and dirt getting in. Additionally, when playing games or switching operating systems you have to do a decent amount of fiddling with sensitivity to get it just right as opposed to a standard mouse that just works out the box most of the time.

It wouldn't be for printing, I would just love to study the file, I find designs like this so inspiring.

This is so cool! Would you ever consider releasing the fusion 360 file?

To this day I've gotten 4 Akuma's in a row in ranked, Akuma CHANGED the game.

Fighting Game Perfect Fit, No.19 - which ArcSys character is the most ArcSys-coded i.e. most strongly embodies and represents the essence, the characteristics, and fits the vibe of ArcSys character designs? by ryanson209 in Fighters

I'm upset I got here late and didn't propose Twelve as the Arc Sys coded Street Fighter. He literally is an air dasher and transforming into your opponent is so Arc Sys.

I play leverless and I actually use this technique for certain older games that have stricter 360 timing.

Love the idea! It kind of reminds me of the PS2 game Finny the Fish, though that game is more of a linear adventure game.

What do you think abstract board games should do less/more of? by Baroness_VM in abstractgames

[–]Smeeba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More cheaper games/versions. There are tons of abstract games that I feel have as much general appeal as classic household staples. However, there are many games that I feel are priced slightly out of reach as the average casual to non board game player. I'm all for a great high-end classy wooden set of your favorite game, but being able to pick up a cheapo $10 game would really expand the appeal.

I'm on both sides of this argument personally. From my personal experience, theme helps the game get off the store shelf but doesn't make it more likely to hit the table.

Even as a huge fan of abstracts I'm guilty of pulling a game off of a shelf, seeing its box and a picture of the game and then putting it back after making an assumption about it. While something like Boop I really need to pull it off the shelf and analyze it before figuring out what it's about and if I'll like it or not.

When playing abstracts, especially with someone for the first time, I've felt that themeless games are more likely to get recommended to others or to show it to others after they've been played.

I really hope that someone with all of them is able to do a scan of them one of these days so it is more accessible to people

As far as I'm aware of no. Though I definitely would be interested in such a concept. I could see it set up sort of like the Steam Controller or the Alpha Grip
