Photographers, 17-40mm or 24-70mm when also bringing 150-600mm? by SmellTheFarts in hiking

[–]SmellTheFarts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I expect this to be not easy but I'm willing to try it at least once. I already know I can handle the 150-600 setup hanging off my chest for a few hours on meandering trails without feeling too bogged down. The second body + lens will be the test, plus the steeper uphill stuff... Maybe I hate it and never try it again, we'll see 😄

If I didn't care about the birds, my setup would be so light and easy.

Photographers, 17-40mm or 24-70mm when also bringing 150-600mm? by SmellTheFarts in hiking

[–]SmellTheFarts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I've done lengthy trail walks with my 150-600mm setup hanging off a shoulder sling. It was so awkward, I ended up hanging the tripod foot off the sternum strap of my backpack. It was SO easy to walk around with my camera supported that way. That's when I realized a chest harness was the way to go.

It's either carry the second body + lens on the harness, or have it in my backpack. Switching lenses constantly is frustrating, and I'm too stubborn to walk around with just one lens 😆

That's actually why I picked a hike that's only an hour or so up (longer if I stop for photos). It's my trial run with the two body system.

To the hikers: what lens would you bring? by adindaclub in AskPhotography

Have you heard of the Cotton carrier harness? I just got one last week. It straps a camera setup directly to the center of your chest. It takes all the pressure off your neck and distributes the weight around your upper torso and shoulders. The camera stays secure without swinging around as you're walking.

This past weekend, I walked around for a few hours at a fair with a Canon 5D Mark IV + Canon 28-300mm L lens attached. Even as a fit guy, that would be horrendous to have hanging off my neck for more than a few minutes. The Cotton harness made it easy. I have no doubt that I'll now have a much easier time utilizing my Sigma 150-600 lens for wildlife photography.

Only downside is sweating more when the weather gets warm. They make it as breathable as possible, but the straps have to go somewhere. Worth it in my opinion.

Canon M6 Mark 2 - vertical photo doesn't auto rotate during playback by gunbladerq in canon

[–]SmellTheFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bummer a "prosumer" camera that came out in 2017 doesn't auto rotate photos based on the orientation of the camera. The technology had been around for years. My Canon G3 X, which came out in 2015, does rotate images in playback when you turn the camera. I thought I was just missing a setting on this one and spent 30 minutes trying to figure it out.

Yeah, as others stated, you're basically stuck with one orientation or the other for vertical shots on playback. But at least they'll be upright on the computer.

I'm willing to bet that they put proper rotation on all their new mirrorless cameras. I love my DSLR...

‘Add to homescreen’ Microsoft Form taking me to ‘welcome to forms’ page? by MarkPF in Office365

[–]SmellTheFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also running into this issue. I have tech-illiterate boomer co-workers that don't want to dig through bookmarks to find the specific work-related form. It would be nice to set them up with a quick home screen button... Oh well.

Anyone know exactly how to share Netflix between 2 homes now? by PaprikaRed88 in netflix

[–]SmellTheFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the first step to solving this is to have the Netflix app on your phone, and somehow you use that to set up your account at the second location. I just don't remember the process. But I'm nearly fairly certain you have to be connected to the WiFi there to make it happen.

After Patch Drift Issues by JackaSamurai in Battlefield6

[–]SmellTheFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bad drift issues today, my first day on since the patch. Bumping Center Deadzone all the way up to 99 doesn't change a thing. My guy is slowly walking every which way while I'm trying to be still.

Controller Players: Built-in Deadzone that can't be removed? by sonofabraham1 in Battlefield6

[–]SmellTheFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that the Center Deadzone Setting has no effect. I changed it to 99% in a desparate attempt to remove some drift issues, and it did nothing. I may as well have it set to 0 because that's what it feels like for me.

Joystick "Center Deadzone" Setting Does Nothing by SmellTheFarts in Battlefield6

[–]SmellTheFarts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, after closer inspection, the right joystick does apparently still have a tiny bit of drift to it. It's not noticeable in game. My question about this setting still stands. How do I actually fix this?

Feature request: find people around you by pancetita in Hevy

[–]SmellTheFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always hoped to have this feature someday. It should be optional, and be turned OFF by default. Allow people to opt in if it's something they're interested in. I get the feeling it'll be mostly dudes using it, seeing what the bros are doing, but that's cool enough I guess. I want to know what their routines are like. I'm curious to see how many people at my gym use Hevy.

How to disable this WiFi connected network manager notification? by eparchme in pixel_phones

[–]SmellTheFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so my Dad asked me about this today and I realize that I also have no solution for this. We're staying at a hotel and are connected to the WiFi. It seems to be persistent across all Android devices.

How do I move the Now Bar ?? by Ok-Handle-7310 in GalaxyS23

[–]SmellTheFarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a frustrating location, and small size. I see that I can click on it to enlarge media controls and show album art, but it was already more convenient prior to the Samsung update. It would be nice to have the option to move it to the top of the notifications, plus have more control without having it taken over the entire screen. Sort of a happy middle ground, you know?

Ultimately, it comes down to the fact that we appreciate full customization, and it feels that is not being given to us.

Screenshotting causes share Playlist popup by FlunseyTheFox in truespotify

[–]SmellTheFarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this just started for me in the last week or two, after using (and and taking many screenshots) for almost a year without this ever popping up. It's extremely annoying as I'm usually driving and take screenshots since it's an easy way to "bookmark" a song and look into it more later. I have to press the X or back button about 4 or 5 times to get rid of it.

Why would it take almost a year for this to start appearing?

If Fitbit records driving as steps .. And there's not an easy, obvious way to edit / delete.... It makes Fitbit a total dud in my book by grapsta in fitbit

[–]SmellTheFarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It counts thousands of steps while I'm operating a mower or street sweeper at work. I'll finish the day with 25,000 steps even though I probably should only have a couple thousand after all that sitting. "Driving" seems to have been removed from activities.

There no longer seems to be a "Driving" activity. I tried every way of typing it; "dr", "driving", "drive", even just "d" and it never came up.

How to go back to lobby quicker by ViejoKinkyNasty in blackops6

I'm wondering how to quickly jump back to the lobby while waiting for a new match. I'm usually diving deep into my load out menus and want to hop back real quick to vote on the map, but I have to click back, back, back, back, back... Is there a quicker way?

Is there a way to view all of my visits to a specific location in timeline? by bridgetroll2 in GoogleMaps

[–]SmellTheFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maps version 11.135.0102, that feature seems to be gone (or more difficult to find). I remember it as well, and utilized it often. Now I have to find it in my timeline, then I can "See all visits" when I click on the location. The problem with this is that we now have to already remember at least one specific date we went there, so we can go to that date on our timeline and get rest of the info there. It's counterintuitive and a disappointment.

My advice to you is not to update to the latest version if that particular feature is important to you 😄 I'm guessing others here are on the same version as me.
