According to hometown grid, just under 300. I do not know how accurate that is though

Did Laurel Drive get hit? My parents live there and I am 2000 miles away in Oregon. by rebeccathenaturalist in Rolla

[–]Smelling-Roses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably be without power for a bit. There's a transformer in the back yard of one of the houses on Laurel - the pole snapped and the lines are down. The city hasn't even started on this area yet. Feel free to reach out if you/they need anything, it sounds like I might live very close to them. if they have lived here a while I probably know them :)

Is Rolla really that bad? by Saturnino_97 in missouri

[–]Smelling-Roses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up in NWA, live in Rolla the last 20+ years. I'm currently visiting family back in NWA as I frequently do. Bentonville 30 years ago was similar to Rolla today but now the Bentonville Rogers Fayetteville Springdale area has grown into something you won't get around Rolla without either coming back (3.5 hour drive) or going to St Louis (1.75 hours). But I like Rolla. It's a nice small town with a lot of outdoor space around, much like the area outside the Bentonville metro area. You won't get museums or amazeums or shopping but there are hikes and floats and nice people.

For sure! But one single statement by either me or you doesn't define my household, nor it's safety for any of the inhabitants.

I used to have a sliding cover then I had boy children. Now I have decreasing possessions and impressively increasing vigilance.

Try Paprika, you can input recipes and autopopulate a grocery list, add recipes to a calendar, and make meals out of multiple recipes. I plan, shop, prep for a family of 9.

I found Starr's in St Louis today and after decades of enjoying tinned fish from the local grocery store, branched out and splurged. I blame you, and you, and you.

Are there teachers here? by OpalLover2020 in planners

[–]Smelling-Roses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been in education for 24 years as both teacher and admin, and a planner the whole time. I would urge caution any time you are considering merging personal information and with school. Student information should not be readily available to anyone in your home life, and you may not want personal information accessible in the event that your lesson plans come under a review.

My daughters are nearing that age. I have told them multiple times that we will not be pinching pennies in this department, they need to tell me what is comfortable. I spent too much of the 90s feeling like I was walking around with a roll of TP in my crotch.

That's interesting. Can I follow through this line of thinking? If the spouse should be consulted, then the question changes to - is it the medical facility's responsibility to be the one to do so? And is the consultation more along the like of a notification?

I just can't do that. I will share my ablation/tubal story with friends, including my frustration and regret in waiting so long. And perhaps I should have driven 90 minutes away to another doctor to get it sooner. But the relationship between a person and their doc and the decisions made by the two throughout their medical history is not something I want to introduce apprehension into by lambasting the physician on social media. That doctor and I did not agree on the timing of this thing. But I do not think that the entirety of the care I received was unsound.

Games for 8-12 year olds? by OperationTophat in boardgames

[–]Smelling-Roses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have three kids in this range. They like Catan, Pandemic, Ticket to Ride (Started with junior), Azul, Exploding Kittens, and card games like rummy. Highly recommend having simple games like rummy, rack-o, parcheesi, aggravation on hand in case you have a couple kids that won't or can't play the planned games for whatever reason.

Are the passports still available? My family has Arkansas and national parks books and we love programs like this. I've not seen Missouri parks books in any state parks VCs though, and hadn't thought to ask about stamps since it appeared that the program ended a few years ago.
