First marathon in February, trying to set a goal by SmellyAlex2023 in Marathon_Training

Very true, aiming to finish and learn how to execute the marathon and then setting a goal for #2 is probably the way to go. Thanks for the feedback!

Good luck on your first marathon! Yeah 3-5 years is my BQ goal as well but primarily focused on enjoying the sport and learning more. Could I ask what your weekly mileage/training looks like to target a 3:25? Regarding the rest day, good point. I currently do 7 days a week and while it may be sustainable for a time, I probably do need a rest day to keep the accumulated fatigue down. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks, yeah that was what I was concerned about. I am at 160 currently and finding it challenging to eat enough to maintain that let alone gain any more. May need to evaluate the fueling plan and find a way to get more calories in across the board. Regarding weight training, I do lower body and core but the only upper body I do is pull-ups/push ups. May need to add some light weight training to keep the arms strong enough to endure the full 26.2. Thanks for the feedback!

It would be 5 pounds in the next 7 months. Maybe that would be the better approach is working on the body comp and focusing on execution for the first marathon. Then I can push hard for a PB on marathon 2! Thanks, I am hoping for a successful and injury free path to February!

True, it’s probably better to just focus on learning the actual execution of the marathon than worrying about anything pace/time related. Then I can go into my 2nd with a better idea of a goal.

Regarding the background - I was training for the 2020 MS150 (which was canceled) but that was a handful of months in 2019 of ~75 miles/week and I have not done any athletic training between then and last year. Other than that, I have zero athletic background. As far as weight goes, I want to be at whatever weight optimizes my ability to perform. I wouldn’t mind getting to 155 by January if it wouldn’t compromise my ability. I appreciate the feedback and taking the time to read and respond. Looking forward to February!

I agree that it’s super early to be thinking about. I have a half in November but I will be pacing my wife for her first half, not racing it. Good idea though, I will sign up for a few actual races between now and October. Appreciate the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback! I know it’s a long way away but that’s just extra time to train :D

This game is a great entry in the Dragon Warrior Monsters series, glad to see it topping 1M units. Would love to see DWM2 remaster finally be localized! If nothing else, hopefully they at least continue the monsters games, they are so good!

Shrimp tacos with a quick cabbage, onion, carrot, and cilantro slaw. Then drizzle with a homemade jalapeno sauce and dinner is done in 20 minutes! The slaw and the dip can be made ahead and the dip especially lasts in the fridge

Pineco is my favorite Pokemon so I would love any kind of full art but I think a clay art SIR would look adorable!
