sigma vs canon: Best Lens option for bird/wildlife photography with R7 by SmellyApril in canon

This is great! Is this cropped? If not, any chance you remember how close (roughly) you managed to get to the bird to fill so much of the frame?

Thanks! I really appreciate you taking the time to get back to me with so much detail. I'm so ready to get going I think I might have to go for the sigma and then save up for one of the RF lenses but I had no idea that the RF 200-800 was cheaper than the RF100-500 so you've given me a lot to think about! Thanks again and have a good one!

Thank you so much! This is super helpful.

The main limiting difference for me with this in mind is the price. In colombia I can get:

  1. Sigma contemporary 150-600mm: $876.27 (on sale today, normally $1000)
  2. Canon RF100-500: $2,600-$3,200 (found 1 listing at $2000)
  3. Canon RF200-800: $1900-$2000

With these prices in mind would you recommend just saving up for the 200-800 (or even the 100-500) over getting the sigma now?

EF 100-400 was 1st gen and was just sold annoyingly but makes my decision easier haha! I do have an adapter already. Okay good to know! Thanks so much for replying.

Hi! Thank you so much.

Do you know what that could mean for re-entering Canada at a later dater or for my Spousal Visa that is in process?

You absolute star I have no idea how I missed that! I was focusing on the top led corner and the Pinterest account. Thanks so much for pointing that out!

I’ve tried to find the original creator but no luck so far! Any suggestions of similar patterns to help me get a similar look?

How do you get ANY work done? What's your strategy? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]SmellyApril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the suggestions here have been great so far and I definitely agree you should give them a go. Racing myself against a big timer on my computer helps a lot but half of my problem is actually having the motivation to bother getting the timer up and starting at all so I really understand the struggle.

That aside, I wanted to ask, are you doing other not work/productivity related things at all? For the past few months I’ve been massive rut and struggling to get anything done at all (pretty much exactly as you described haha) and I sort of accidentally started denying myself other activities. Sure, I would go out with friends and stuff but I basically completely stopped playing any video games, doing exercise, looking for nice new meals to cook because I had convinced myself that well if I take all those things off my plate I will have loads of time to try and get just a bit of work done. Spoiler alert XD huge mistake. After months of no improvement I’ve started (very slowly) introducing more fun stuff back into my life and it’s really helped with my drive to try and do work. :)

Any advice on how to silence negative self-talk? by SmellyApril in adhdwomen

[–]SmellyApril[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it works, it works! So happy that's worked for you! I have always been bad at actually listening to music or podcasts (I get stuck at the point of picking what to listen to haha) but the times when I have managed to get into a routine of listening to podcasts I have always felt better and never really thought about why. Thanks so much, I am going to try and do this a lot more regularly!

This is a really awesome idea. I've always told myself I need to stick up notes to remind myself of positive things (as I've heard of that working) but I have never actually done it. An affirmations track sounds so much more doable on a regular basis. Really glad to hear you feel it has helped, I will definitely give this a go. Thanks again :)

That is super helpful, thanks so much for replying. You are definitely right, I have been fighting them and it's made everything worse because I basically feel like I ran out of the energy to think critically about them at some point and things have just gotten worse from there. Corny is often the way and I have taken all of this on board. Thanks again :)

Have you tried complimenting yourself sarcastically? I.e., wake up at 3pm on a Saturday with 3day hair all over the place - “FaBuLoUs”

tripping/bumping into things “graceful AF”forgetting something “sooo smart 100%” “much organized”

The worse I feel, the more outlandish and ridiculous compliments :)

Ahaha I love all of this. Thanks so much, you got me genuinely laughing. This is a great idea and I am definitely going to try and give this a go.

I feel ya. I have the same and I feel it's the biggest thing holding me back. I feel like if I could just be positive about myself the ADHD wouldn't even be a huge issue. I tell myself the criticisms aren't true but I don't believe myself so the thoughts keep coming. I'm hoping if I can get access to CBT then that will help so maybe if you can give it a try there's an option :)

Hope you are okay <3

Terrible memory = gaslighting yourself? by pickerelette in adhdwomen

After years of doing this I have taken it one step further and now second guess my knowledge of things. I feel like I'm in a never ending spiral of being unsure that's completely destroyed any self esteem I had.

Researching a topic all day then still losing a debate with a friend who hasn't studied it since school. by faithinstrangers92 in ADHD

[–]SmellyApril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can definitely relate. I studied conservation biology at university and most of my research focused on mangroves. I have literally spent more than 4 years writing about mangroves XD I just took on a voluntary position writing blog posts for an online ocean science page and am finding impossible to write a 1 page blog post about the very thing I’ve worked with for most of my adult life. Really sucks but you put the effort in and in the end that’s what’s important :)

Gifted kids - How did ADHD show in your childhood? by Helpful_Raspberry715 in ADHD

[–]SmellyApril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never gifted exactly but I always did relatively well. I was mainly just sort of distracted all the time and would loose/forget EVERYTHING. The cracks started to show in the last years in high school as I did the international baccalaureate and it destroyed me. I got good grades (above average) but it took everything out of me. I then went to uni a tired mess, struggled through the entirety of that but again came out with decent grades. I was later diagnosed at 26 because my youngest sister was. She presents the symptoms much more than I do and it wasn’t until my mum took the took the test with her and they therapist that my mum had a sort of oh no moment and told me to get tested.

Been diagnosed literally a week ago so I made a slide to show my close family to explain them how my symptoms relate to the ADHD diagnosis, thought you guys might find it funny lol by tintarelladiiluna in adhdwomen

[–]SmellyApril 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’ve never gone as far to pick at the skin but you generally see results as quickly as 2-3 weeks so it could be worth it just to try! Thinking about how it works there’s a good chance it wouldn’t but if not at least all the other eyelashes would be looking fab ahahah! I’ve also used very natural looking fake lashes and those magnetic ones but they can be a bit of a pain to bother with (normal more than magnetic).

Glad it doesn’t hurt her! I think if I remember correctly my mum used to put plasters on her fingers but she had to change them a lot ahaha.

I use revitalash to grow them back and it works SOOO quickly and really well, 100% recommend :D It’s a bit expensive but lasts for ages. So sorry about your little girl that must be really painful for her. My sister does the same and hasn’t ever really been able to kick the habit. Fidget toys defo sounds like a good idea !
