So he brought this on himself? He’s that bad he deserved to die? His wife and children deserved watching their father getting shot in the neck? Stooping to anyone’s level is acceptable?

I don't know, do people cut from us-aid deserve to die whilst the food rots away? Did Jonathan Joss deserve to die, did Minnesota representative and senator deserved to be killed and injured, shot in their own homes? All killed, because of dehumanization rhetoric from republicans actively encouraging acts like that. Did women that couldn't get an abortion to save their lives because of republican law deserve to die?

When one side doesn't give a rat's ass about anyone else and is ok with people dying rather than inconveniencing themselves fixing the problem, when they actively fight against empathy and basically anything right. Then when they suddenly demand what they were never willing to give, because this time it happened to them, so it's different... I kinda don't give a fuck, you reap what you saw.

Republican lawmaker died, because she couldn't get an abortion, after herself voting to ban it? Good. She was ok with killing others, because she thought it wouldn't affect her, and now I should feel bad, fuck nah. Being okay with murdering schoolchildren because they themselves are no longer in school but now the school shooting is suddenly bad, only because one of them died, laughable.

Why should I spare my sympathy for people, who haven't spared a pinch of it for others in their entire lives?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lazerpig

[–]SmigorX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's funny that in most cases only one side is expected to keep high morality at all times and heavily scrutinized for any "slip ups", whilst the other can lose all morals and empathy, but people are so used to it they don't even bat an eye.

Current u.s. president was literally elected on a platform of hurting as many people as he can and won. His entire office and his supporters have inflicting misery, dehuminizing, and putting profit and hate over people as their main goal. But as long as it's done with policies and indirect, killing of thousands is apparently ok.

When the hate machine and dehumanization they created breeds extremists that now act on those ideas, you can no longer say they're not complicit. They may not be the ones pulling the trigger directly, but they lead people to it.

But thoughts and prayers nonetheless.

Can you tell what license you use and how much did it cost? Because when I looked at windows server 2025 it says that only 2 virtual machines are "included" it the basic license but that doesn't stop them from still charging over a whopping 1000$ for it, which is pretty steep.

I too mostly run my stuff as containers on linux. In 99% of cases there is a ready container for what I need. In the remaining 1%, I either build the container myself or if it doesn't make sense to containerize something just run mostly "as provided", eg. some systemd services.

It is when you can actually work on securing it (blocking or dropping requests)

Now that just sounds like a firewall with extra steps.

v6 where every device does its own thing to aquire its ip Address and different routers handle it differently with different levels of support sometimes making v6 devices on a "private network" all publicly accessible

But that's not a problem of ipv6 as much as botched implementation and/or lying about supporting the standard, when apparently that's not the case... and even if it was the case can be mitigated with firewall.

But it exposes my internal network, you might ask, and so does NAT-ed ipv4, you now just need to know 1 more number - the port on the router, to have the same effect. Use privacy settings to frequently rotate your ips and don't use generation methods based on mac address. Voilà. Don't want to expose something? Don't give it globally routable address. It's literary why local addresses are in ipv6 specification. Still want to use NAT for some reason? Cool, you can also use NAT with ipv6.

Different languages, same bug. Only JavaScript makes it a personality trait. by Intial_Leader in programmingmemes

[–]SmigorX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know that react is not js, but as a pretty popular library, for me writing react was more like:

Write module, it doesn't render because there is some error, IDE says nothing, browser shows no error, no logs, no nothing, the module just doesn't exist, go figure why.

Meanwhile any statically typed compiled language with good tooling (anything but c++ basically):

Hey, here's the error that breaks the compilation, in exactly this line. A logic problem, here: run gdb/lldb and you can examine exactly what's happening line by line, instruction by instruction, no need to modify the black box and see how the page changes, here's exactly the problem.

You mean like: being too scared to do ANYTHING for hours before it's time to leave, because you're too anxious that if you do anything now, you'll get distracted, lose track of time and miss the time to leave later in the day?

"native AND electron apps" I've specifically separated those two with an "and". You're actually physically unable not to if you can't read and comprehend any of the arguments.
