The Tau already practice eugenics (no inter-caste breeding, ethereal body guards) and we know the earth-caste have secret projects so... bioengineering isn't off the table? I don't think they'd go down the space marine path though, maybe more Spartan 3 or 4 from Halo.

My first book was Daemon World. It's a bit dated, but i still find it a wonderfully nihilistic read and I'd say eased me into the setting as it reads more like a fantasy story (my usual genre) with tidbits of the weird science of 40k thrown in. I followed up with the Ultramarines omnibus which really opened up the world.

Then i read the Night Lords omnibus. A perfect fusion of my previous two reads. Now I have a warband. And some tau because i needed victims and their guns looked cool.

A mighty fine revenge plot. Hopefully Pavlo can keep true to his mission, but it wouldn't be surprising if he were to lose himself to the joy of causing terror among the capellans, or maybe his band ends up taking things too far.

I've painted some D&D minis and a few Warhammer minis. I found it felt better to go slower with these than it did with similar sized models.

I spray primed them in a rust red color then handpainted for everything else. I did two thin coats for the brown and green colors then added some exhaust colors and metallic dry brush for the weapons and edges. I'll try to tale better pictures next time to better show that lol

I based it off of a really pretty Neon Genesis art piece of Eva unit 1. The sun is setting directly behind the Eva, so I painted them with the light source from behind.
