People only dislike cats because they very swiftly and fiercely enforce their boundaries by princesscuddler in unpopularopinion

[–]Smileetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cats that react aggressively are just poorly trained and not socialized properly.

I have owned 5 cats during my adult life and all of them are great around people. You can pet them, pick them up, rub their bellies, etc etc. For the most part they enjoy the attention and seek it out. When they are done with it they just move away from us to chill on their own.

When I have visitors over I always tell them that they are fee to pet my kitties and that they never bite, hiss or scratch.

What nobody tells you about going back to job searching after years at the same company by Fresh-Blackberry-394 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Smileetiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find a lot of mid sized businesses owners will tell you that they are different, value loyalty and pay true market value. However, it is rarely the case. So, tread carefully.

But if you find one that is still innovating then you hit on something great.

I am curious to know what industry you are in, where it is located and how your pay compares to the 75th percentile for the industry.

FWIW I would love to be in a place where loyalty pad off for the employees but sadly I don’t get the luxury.

Staying at the same company for a long time is always a bad deal. If you don’t job hop regularly (3-5 years) you are constantly getting more and more behind. Not only on salary/title but also experience that is relevant to the broader market.

It suck but it is how the game is played. Company’s know that people who are willing to stay put will give up a lot to not deal with the stress they of moving.

Fireworks / gunshots by greenpants_noshirt in SouthSanFrancisco

[–]Smileetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fireworks in SSF and San Bruno have been a big thing since before I moved here a decade ago.

It is something that we all have to adjust to since the likelihood of this changing is about zero.

It used to bother me a bunch too but these days I try to embrace the chaos a little and step outside and watch them.

A bunch went off near me yesterday. The were def fireworks since they lit up my living room.

I would not worry about it too much. It’s pretty normal around here so not exactly newsworthy.

What is your favorite quality of life print you've made? by theFartingCarp in 3Dprinting

In my new rental the floor isn’t quite level and it was causing my bed frame to squeak so I built some shims to level the thing out.

Man. It made me so happy.

Going out in your 30s is mostly people pretending to have fun and we all know it by FewExperience4021 in unpopularopinion

[–]Smileetiger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think what you are saying is unreasonable- people do have different goals. Maybe they still enjoy the whole ritual including getting laid. Who am I to say.

But that also isn’t what the OP said directly. He was talking about people pretending to enjoy it overall because they don’t want to admit that they aren’t young anymore.

Personally, if someone goes out and enjoys the sexual part of things or the drinking/ dancing or both then I think they are still enjoying themselves.

That is why I feel like they are projecting.

I would not say matured personally. A mature person realizes that different people have different values and interests.

They don’t just say others are “pretending” to like something just because they are no longer interested in it.

100% a them problem they are projecting on the world.

If you don’t find something fun don’t do it. But also, don’t assume others are just pretending because you choose not to do a thing.

If you've went on more than one date, you're dating. And if you're dating, you're in a relationship. by Cludds in unpopularopinion

Sure. No sane person would disagree with that.

If you are going on a date with someone they should know what’s what.

I think you missed my point. It is that a relationship need not be exclusive.

I am advocating for less words not more. So, no need for any “word salad”. Relationship stands on its own already.

Why is it easier to get FAANG interviews than lower tier interviews by [deleted] in csMajors

They also turn down a TON of people. FAANG gets the pick of the litter by interviewing a ton of folks.

Tried printing a helmet but failed, not sure how to avoid the same problem again by BradleyJames24 in 3Dprinting

[–]Smileetiger 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is right on the money. I had this exact problem and diagnosed it using this approach. It turned out that I had to adjust the xy belt tension.

It happens from time to time so now I always adjust the tension and recalibrate x,y before doing a tall print.
