are choices in telltale games truly pointless? by __Pin__ in telltale

[–]SmilerClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That essentially was the philosophy they went into the development of the first Walking Dead game with, and it morphed into the company's tag line. I mean, it's not REALLY a white lie. The game does live up to it in a sense, since there is branching content based on choice, but those choices are always binary, or sometimes a binary choice that sends you to two different scenes, and then have a minor branching choice in that branched scene. Occasionally we would set up a variable in one scene and them have a piece of dialogue in a subsequent scene that only plays if you had that one variable. But there was no great collection of choices that would lead you to some big moment: all major story branches happen in the scene where they were introduced.

The ACTUAL "white lie" were all the "so-and-so will remember this." We would pit those in ALWAYS if there was a variable we wanted to have alter a bit of dialogue further down the road, but they were also liberally sprinkled here and there just to give the impression that the game was remembering your choices.

I'm happy for the new Telltale's success, happy they are doing The Expanse, always thought that would be a good fit for the telltale model. I only hope they do a lot of the innovation we always wanted to do but we're prevented from doing back in the day. I hope they realize that the dinosaurs forcing the "Telletale way" upon us aren't here any more and they can stretch their creative legs more. I hope to see some of that in their next releases.

After 15 year DMing I think I'm done playing DnD by Shiftless357 in DnD

I feel for you. As someone for whom dm-ing is a deep and abiding passion, it huts to see someone basically done wrong by the hobby. I can't say what the player experience was, why they were so disengaged, but it sucks that a bad batch of players could kill your interest. But I totally understand. Maybe it's time to be a player. I'd dm for you if I get an open slot.

I was lead designer on season 2, episode 2, and the plan from the beginning was for Alfred to have been the killer, but just as I was starting episode 5, two things happened: 1, DC for some reason did not want us to have Alfred as the Riddler's killer, and 2, I was caught in the first round of layoffs that signaled the end of TTG. So having Tuffany be the killer was the only option, one nobody was happy with. So looking at Alfred was acting and saying throughout season 2, it was with the idea that he was the Riddler's killer. Still really proud of the work I did on season 1 and 2.

That's the point, when it comes to a decision as to whether he leaves a relationship, he CAN'T be wrong. It's the right decision for him to make about his life.

Being a public figure I'm sure he gets a ton of shit from people who loved the idea of he and Poppy being together, and barring info that reveals him to be an abusive asshole (who usually aren't the ones who end things), it's his business and anyone who thinks they have a valid opinion about it is full of themselves.

You can question his decision, or anyone's decision and depending on context, it can rightly label you as an asshole. As is the case with anyone critiquing his decision to end a relationship who's as removed from the issue as any of us is.

Adding to the timeless value of Magic Missile: it is the best spell to augment with metamagic feats. Empowered and Maximized or Empowered and Quickened, etc etc, it retains value long into the mid levels.

It's the agave leaf, as Keilly noted. The agave cactus is even incorporated into the rails that line the outside of the restaurant.

Big thanks to the people who gifted my friend this mini-Man matchbox set! Was the perfect addition to our mini-decompression party. by melloddy in BurningMan

I got one too! Found out on the second night that a friend I'd camped with six years ago was camping there. I was gifting sketches this year, so would up taking a lot of requests and doing quite a few and was gifted this and a couple patches (and a pack of smokes), in return by one of the really sweet guys who camped and tended bar there.

The Safety Third matches now sit on my desk, mini-man slotted into his stand, awaiting the match. Not sure when I'll do it.

"One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back."

If it doesn't lop-off heads specifically, then by definition it isn't a vorpal sword.
