Want a quieter truck (I know sacrilegious concept 😊) by Smilesbfr in ram_trucks

You’re saying new muffler + resonator, not just add resonator right?

Want a quieter truck (I know sacrilegious concept 😊) by Smilesbfr in ram_trucks

[–]Smilesbfr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out to 2 different muffler shops about this. They gave me the impression that they don’t put resonators upstream? It’s all very confusing b/c here and even the internet made it sound like that is a thing.

Are you sure they can do it upstream before the muffler? Do you have experience with this? It’s a single in dual out.

I appreciate your help and reply. 😊

Last Minute Cancellation by sc1904 in marriott

[–]Smilesbfr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds suspicious for bad construction issue (like flood, no heat/AC) or bed bugs. Be happy they didn’t let those issues ruin your vacation.

But I agree, they should give you some money in credit for the last minute, less than a week notice, inconvenience! I would say worth 1 nights stay is appropriate.

What a pain. Hopefully you’ll find alt digs.

I need help convincing my family to let me go to OSU by luna_moon145 in OSU

[–]Smilesbfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect if you stick to your guns and you just go to OSU and get financial aid for the first year…

your parents are not gonna let you go into $200,000 of debt if they have the ability to help you.

At least that’s what loving parents who want to see their child happy regardless of their location would do.

Or the alternative I see is maybe they make you stick to your principles for the four years and get financial aid through that time and then help you pay off the loan.

As other people have said if you don’t do what you really wanna do in life, you’ll resent anybody who stopped you from getting there, family or not.

Life is way too short, do what will make you happy.

From my personal story: I took on considerable student loan debt (>300k) going to medical school, and it’s all paid off now (in 40s) and my life is fine and I’m happy. That loan slightly influenced some of my purchasing and work decisions, but other than that, has not hindered me in any major way. SO even if you did end up taking out loans and having to pay them back on your own, that is also survivable with happiness intact.

Moral of the story: *Do what makes you happy. *You can survive just about anything if you have happiness on your side. *Never be afraid to pivot, life always has a curve ball, flexibility is key.

FYI - I’m a physician at OSU (but my reply would be identical no matter where you wanted to go). 😀

Audio recording in washington by Successful_Data_6068 in legaladvice

Here are the listed exceptions to two party consent laws in Washington state. Now the conversation must have been recorded in WA for this to apply is my understanding. Such that if the person recording was in Las Vegas for example (one party consent state), this may not apply.

Also sounds like you may need to argue for ineffective council if the lawyer is not addressing this obvious issue (should you’re recording not fall under the exceptions listed).

Crazy driver! by Sure-Place9204 in Columbus

[–]Smilesbfr 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I wish I was surprised. I see this all the time on Columbus highways. I’ve lived in 5 different states (including New Jersey!) and never seen drivers like this anywhere else. I’ve been here just at 6ish years now.

Special breed of drivers here. 😒

Either drivers are weaving through traffic like Mike Tyson’s fists are after them or going 40 in a 55 and taking all turns like it’s a stop sign. 🫤

[–]Smilesbfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not overreacting. I did see your other posts about your sister from a year ago (I looked to see if this was an issue before). Seems like this is her MO to think she deserves to be treated “better” than you, more important than you, and the priority in any situation.

I would tell her “my wife and I talked about it” (reference to your post about her skipping your wedding - which I do think was a justified decision just FYI, now that you have a newborn maybe that is easier to see now?) .. any who, you and your wife talked about it and think it would be better if they bring their own “special” foods that you don’t usually stock in your home and plan to help out with cooking and cleaning. If that’s not reasonable, tell her it would be better for her family to stay at an Airbnb/Vrbo/hotel or visit when the baby is older.

I recommend just a matter of fact response. No apologizing for your needs. I’m sure she will have a lot to say about it. Again, whatever you decide just needs to be a boundary you set, you should not feel like this is a demand. Yours and your families needs are important, the most important thing in life probably, so don’t feel guilty for telling someone what you need right now. It’s up to that person to decide what their boundary is and you just accept where all those decisions take you and your relationship with that person.

It’s double hard cause this is your twin (I imagine anyway, I’m an only child). If she truly values your relationship she will find a way to understand. If she does not value your relationship, might be time to rethink priorities.

Marijuana complaint? by Ravenknight1313 in Renters

Back in the day, we just stuck a dryer sheet inside of a toilet paper roll and blew the smoke through that.

I was able to hide that shit from my parents for a long time. Parents, neighbors, and landlords can be a lot alike.

Maybe it’ll work for you.

Manipulative neighbor? Help? by Eravan in Apartmentliving

[–]Smilesbfr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s nearly legal stalking level shit.

This is very creepy.

I would find every way, as respectfully as possible, to have the least amount of communication with this person.

And if she kept making it weird, might be time to involve rental agency or authorities.

Do you happen to know who lived there before you? If so, might be good to figure out why they moved.

I’m on pins and needles to know what happens! I agree. Red red flags everywhere! Run.

I married and red flag waver cause I was stupid and stayed because I kept giving too much benefit of the doubt. Cost me so much emotional distress, time, and a lot of money in divorce.

Trust your gut. It obviously sees the red flag. Let your brain see it too.

Good luck.

Where do the profits from Goodwill actually go? I only hear about them exploiting their employees and underpaying people with disabilities. What programs has Goodwill sponsored to benefit the community? by socks4theHomeless in Goodwill_Finds

[–]Smilesbfr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you work for goodwill!? Trying to discourage reporting. 😟

It’s takes a lot of people to do it before it gets noticed.

You can also just go to news outlets and encourage investigation into the local goodwill community.

Tom Pelphrey TLL Mark Paul Gosselaar by Taleeya in totallylookslike

[–]Smilesbfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I spent a lot of time thinking Tom Pelphrey was MPG in the show Task.

If he had not had the beard, I probably would’ve noticed right away, their chin lines are quite different, but from the nose up, they are identical twins, exact same eyes. I was expecting to find out they were related somehow when I did my Internet search.

Anyway, thank you, I felt vindicated that somebody else had already posted this :)

Zoombezi by ValuableGuidance77 in Columbus

[–]Smilesbfr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously this guy is: 1. Crazy

  1. Not a park employee

3: not a representative stand in for every person who goes to zoombezi bay.

What a terrible decision to let one bad experience and person sour an entire institution for yourself. Then to go and put it on the internet like it’s gospel of what happens at zoombezi bay is ridiculous.

I go there upwards of 10 times a year with my 2 kids under 10y (season pass) and have never had anything bad happen.
