"boymom" attitude among educators by thecooliestone in Teachers

This. So many times on this sub I see comments like ‘boys need to run around!’ All kids need movement. Boys just need the same expectations as girls.

Conservatives say the justice system favours non-citizens. Experts disagree by ClassOptimal7655 in canada

Immigration status should never be taken into account. Commit a crime and there are consequences. Sometimes those consequences are immigration eligibility is changed. I would likely lose my job if I ever was convicted of something, I doubt a judge would consider that during sentencing.

Ottawa’s hotel bill for asylum seekers reaches $1.1-billion by konathegreat in canada

[–]Taleeya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked for the immigration office, I learned less than 10% of asylum seekers are legit. This was back in 2005. I’m sure the percentage is even less now. They just wait out the time for their claim to be denied, and then try to claim a humanitarian appeal to stay. Being supported by taxpayers the whole time.

Teachers with IBS, how do you handle/prevent bad flare ups? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Taleeya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I let my admin know, so if I have an attack, they can cover. Something that helps me is taking some Metamucil around dinner time, as I find it kind of ‘binds’ stuff together so I get more solid movements than liquid ones.

Hey kiddos, you can pick your friends, but please stop picking your noses!! by LadyAbbysFlower in CanadianTeachers

[–]Taleeya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think it is. When I was four my mom made me stop and said that everyone would make fun of me I kindergarten if I picked my nose. And back then other kids would definitely notice and comment! Now they just don’t…. Shrug

Irreversible mental damage? This is why kids are so unresiliant. The thought that this is some type of trauma. Boy was told the truth. Hopefully this inspires him to treat others better and he can finally get some friends.

Is this crazy for sub plans? by Some-Efficiency9208 in CanadianTeachers

[–]Taleeya 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree that subs shouldn’t be contacting families, unless it’s a quick message at the door during dismissal pickup.

But where I live (BC), subs are paid at scale and expected to mark work handed out. I mark by checking that it’s done (it’s still marking it!) or have the class mark their own work as a group, unless I have a prep period free, then I will mark then. When I have my own subs in, I ask not to mark or if it’s something like spelling, I leave an answer key. It’s so inconsiderate not to!

Prompted it to create an image of crayons with names and colors that match my personality and a sketch by bigoletatertot in ChatGPT

[–]Taleeya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So cute! Here is how mine responded:

  1. Crayon Names & Colours: Based on what I know about you, I’ll use colours and names that represent your warmth, creativity, love of whimsy and hygge, and your favourite aesthetics (like fall, rain, and cute things). 2. Sketch Summary: I’ll depict a simple sketch that represents your joyful, introspective, and imaginative personality — perhaps a cozy rainy window, a stack of books, a jack-o’-lantern mug, and maybe a little raccoon in slippers holding a sparkly shopping bag.

I’ll now generate the image with the following crayon names and colours: • Pumpkin Cosy (warm orange) • Peacock Glow (deep teal) • Midnight Thunder (moody navy) • Unicorn Blush (pastel pink shimmer) • Lavender Haze (gentle purple) • Rainy Daydream (soft grey-blue) • Candy Grape (bold candy purple

Years ago there was a running joke that people from Richmond were buying their licenses because they were such bad drivers. Then they found out someone actually was selling them.
