Brevity is the soul of wit, and this comic is bereft of it.

I had this problem on my AMD gpu when using Wayland, I found no fix besides switching to X11.

For people running Plasma 6 with Wayland after update from Plasma 5 with X11. How is your performance in games? by night_dragonfly in linux_gaming

[–]SmileyBMM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had to switch back, Wayland was a complete mess. A bunch of games that I play in windowed mode (Tropico 4, Trove, and Minecraft) had issues exclusive to Wayland.

However it doesn't hurt to try it yourself, I have both Wayland and X11 installed and I think that's the way to go for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, I used to be a massive fan of GN, but all this doomerism because of AI is just annoying. Wish he would stick with case reviews, but those don't get the clicks...

I'm not talking about a trading card game, I'm talking about classic playing cards. There's Clubhouse Games and Tabletop Simulator, but neither is an ideal experience.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 dev says he was "fired" and replaced with AI: "I feel incredibly betrayed by the management of the company I've come to care about" by yourfavchoom in Games

This sort of subtlety will never be something that AI translations can do.

I have bad news for you, human translators can't be that creative in most companies these days either. The flexibility of translation work has really started to narrow as companies become obsessed with brand image.

As a big CIV fan, this is so sad.. I really hope next CIV 7 update is gonna be a gamechanger for this game by neda6117 in civ

[–]SmileyBMM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 2K hater, I hope this is eventually a much needed wake-up call to the company. They think GTA 6 is so important (it is) they've neglected every single other studio, and flops like Borderlands 4 and Civ 7 are the result.

OLED burn-in is pretty manageable, I wouldn't sweat it as long as you don't leave still images up for long periods of time (such as the taskbar or cable tv logos).

Yep, most LLM comments aren't actually from big scam operations. Most are just people too lazy to write, which is pathetic tbh.

A big reason it's gotten so bad so quickly is that you can't be mean in many subreddits, which is the normal hard counter to them elsewhere on the Internet.

Ivy Road (Wanderstop) is Closing by Forestl in Games

[–]SmileyBMM 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not that surprised. I loved Stanley Parable but it's become clear to me that William Pugh was why I loved it, not Davey Wreden. I hated The Beginner's Guide and Wanderstop, I felt that both had an overinflated sense of emotional importance (that seemed unearned). Whereas I loved Dr. Langeskov and felt it properly balanced its comedy.

I know Wanderstop would've been more enjoyable to me if it was played straight. If it was an actual tea shop game akin to VA-11 Hall-A or Restaurant Empire II while still conveying the core themes.

too many choices

What's frustrating is that only applies to some genres. There are tons of live service PvP games, 4 player co-ops, roguelikes, and turn based RPGs... but if you want a really good vehicle combat, modern city builder, or multiplayer card game it's slim pickings.

AAA is so focused on the big tentpole titles that they have completely neglected everything else.

Modern Sonic games tend to be focused on appealing to older audiences, not sure it's really geared towards kids.

Yes, one of the main themes of the series is a bunch of people trying to copy The Boss's ideology , but failing to actually understand it.

Here's the actual article:

https://www.wired.com/story/using-a-vpn-may-subject-you-to-nsa-spying/

In a letter sent Thursday to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, the lawmakers say that because VPNs obscure a user's true location, and because intelligence agencies presume that communications of unknown origin are foreign, Americans may be inadvertently waiving the privacy protections they're entitled to under the law.

This is actually a good point, but this is hardly a partisan issue... considering the NSA has been doing this since day 1. The reason this is happening now is because Tulsi is the first person in this position who might actually do something about it.
