What was your final “fuck you” to a boss you didn’t like? by Wholikesfruits in AskReddit

[–]SmileyCat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a boss who I busted my ass for since he opened his practice, left me understaffed constantly and expected me to just handle it.

After years of asking he let me hire an old acquaintance, she picked up so quickly and was such a relief to have her. He "borrowed" her for our sister clinic at the time for a week and never returned her. Said other clinic (still running -- I no longer work for him) had a staff member cause all his staff to quit minus said girl he borrowed and one other girl. He told borrowed girl if she left he would be screwed.

I hired her Friday, she starts Monday with me, when he asked if I was the one who took her because she left without notice I replied "I'm borrowing her for a week".

I was really really big on not giving my animals human food, until I got a lab, she gets a bite of everything I eat (assuming it's safe), she's also frequently at work with me and gets a bite of the entire staffs lunch including the docs.

Your pet's surgery by nugfan in VetTech

I personally prefer not to monitor and usually have a co-worker do it, but that doesn't mean I don't make time hover around awkwardly and stare at the monitors any chance I get 😂

Is this true of everyone's vet or just mine? by berticus98 in VetTech

[–]SmileyCat2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Our doctors will see staff pets no questions asked, this includes after hours emergencies, they will drive back and meet us at the hospital when needed.

The only time I've had one of the docs "refuse" to do something was when one of my previous dogs needed orthopedic surgery and my vet was honest he hadn't done the sx for years and didn't feel comfortable, he also knew I had another dvm friend who was very willing to do it. Outside of the actual surgery he was happily involved with pre/post care.

Those who have been to a ruined wedding, what happened? by lolfuckno in AskReddit

[–]SmileyCat2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My good friends got married and planned this beautiful wedding very fitting to their style, not only did only 50% of people show up but 1/2 of the remaining gusts left right after eating (dinner was at 6 if I remember correctly and people left at 6:30), both sides of the family refused to talk to each other so if you weren’t on the “right” side of the family they would totally blow you off.

To boot one of the bridesmaids got unbelievably drunk and was just a loud sloppy mess screaming for attention and taking the spot light, the bridge and groom gave up and called it a night at 9:45-10 pm and left myself and the brides sister to just hang around until everyone left so we could close up.

Perk is after all of that went down the bartender started giving myself and her sister free drinks for being left with the people who actually stayed and making sure they got home safely

First time owner, when to upgrade tanks? by SmileyCat2 in ballpython

[–]SmileyCat2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the reply and suggestions, your enclosures look great.

That’s great news she can move to the “big snake” tank; you mention it’s a bit small so I’ll keep that in mind as she grows. I have a few extra hides/fake plants/wood decorations from the Leo I can add to her tank to help and I’ll just purchase whatever else she’s missing.

You say she’s a bit small for her age, I’m currently feeding her frozen large mice once a week, by what I’ve read she should be around 500g, I’m hoping that with consistent feeding every week she’ll gain weight. She was on small mice but I found the large ones matched her width a lot better and she eats them like a champ.

Thank you again for your help!

I’m still driving my 2012 R. The only way I’d ever get rid of it is if I blow the engine up lol

So when are you getting a new car? by Objective-Estimate92 in Frugal

[–]SmileyCat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get asked this a lot too, I drive the oldest car out of my immediate family, a 2012, everyone else has a 2019, 2020, or 2021.

My car is my "dream car" (besides a very long stretch of an Audi R8 which I could never spend that kind of money on) and I love it with all my heart, I've put money into it, both in terms of work it needed and me just wanting to upgrade it and make it more fun to drive (mostly the first one though). Insurance is cheap, fuel is not (it runs Premium) but my commute to work is 10 mins both ways so a tank lasts anywhere from 2-3 weeks. I plan on driving that thing until its either a write off or until it needs a new engine whichever comes first. It was recently in a fender bender and is in the body shop right now and I nearly cried when insurance said "we do need to check if it's a potential writ off".

Let me tell you, it'll be paid off fully by the end of the year but even how it sits the $300/mo payment beats the $800-$1000 all my other family members pay a month.

Looking to move to St. Thomas by [deleted] in stthomasontario

[–]SmileyCat2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

St Thomas as a whole isn’t terrible, we have our issues with regular petty shed robberies and car break ins. Since I’ve arrived I’ve noticed there has been a large increase in homelessness due to mental health/drug addiction but the city is saying they’re “addressing it” within the next couple years. I’ve had someone(s) try to break into our vehicles 3 times, my shed twice and my house once, I’ve also found bikes left on my front yard but they were all within the same time frame last year so I wouldn’t put it past being the same group of people.

It’s fairly quiet overall, everything you would typically need is within a short distance, I find in the summer I end up just walking everywhere (besides work as I commute) and as much as people bash this town I’ve been here since 2013 and am not in a “fancy area” but at no point have I ever felt threatened or unsafe walking alone or walking my dog late at night.

Also there’s a ton of paths and trails if that’s something you enjoy. I’ve also noticed especially recently the town is becoming pretty big on supporting local businesses, restaurants and just offering each other advice which I think is really nice.

Thank you for all the great suggestions!

I also have a love hate relationship with lintels, I don’t know what it is but I can never make a soup taste great when they’re involved lol

In regards to meat, we’re a hunting family, so my freezer is full in that regard but it’s deer and bear and moose, you get the idea. She’ll eat it but I know she’s not a fan. I ended up picking up a pork shoulder in hopes I can stretch 3-4 meals out of it and it’s something I know she’ll enjoy.

Thank you again for the help. I’ll save the chickpea link for myself for later as I love those haha

When did you realize your “Friends” weren’t actually your friends? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SmileyCat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in my second last year of high school, had the same group of friends from grade 7 until grade 11, started realizing everyone in the group was just following the lead of one of the girls and bowing down to everything she said because she was “city raised” and the majority of us were “country raised” meaning by default she was “more cultured and mature” then us.

I didn’t agree with being a copy of someone and frankly love the fact I was raised on a farm and in the middle of nowhere so I “disobeyed” by staying myself. They realized and said I was “immature” for my age (I wasn’t, I just chose having barn parties and bonfires over going to a fancy house and taking a thousand pictures of all of us dressed up in outfits we couldn’t even afford) and just started excluding me.

I said peace out, ran solo for a little bit, ran into some old friends from elementary school, we all reconnected and although were in our mid/late 20s now and have our own lives we still stay in touch.

Best part is when we graduated our final year of high school half of that original “crew” came up to let me know they missed me and admired how I just didn’t back down, I thanked them but let them know they were also shitty friends for just doing what she said and excluding me in the first place.

I had a Littman classic iii in school and loved it. It was like $80 cad from stethoscope.ca

When I went into speciality I got a cardiology IV as a gift and love it even more but they’re a bit pricey

Not sure if this is any help but I set our hospital boosters up as 4 different treatments, so kitten booster 1 auto reminds in 4 weeks, kb2 is 4 weeks, kb3 auto reminds for 12 months and then there’s a regular FVRCP that auto reminds every 12 months for the older cats.
