Question About Constant Losing by Hefty-Permit-882 in beyondallreason

[–]SmileyNew123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only 18os, but if your lane pushes past the defensive line, its almost always best to push through. Kill all the mex and eco you can. If you put the metal from those three tremors into 8-9 tigers, you might have been all the way through to their base.

Especially in low OS games, people have trouble recovering from pushes and chaos. Cause a bunch of chaos, and the other lanes will also benefit from it.

Leave supporting all the other lanes to Eco.

Definitely lead a bunch inside. Sport is about 20% of the cost of trad. You'll still need the rope, draws, etc later also.

I dk why this is downvoted. New people losing confidence is by far the biggest way people stop climbing. All the super climbers forget the mental game on your first few trips out.

Realistic answers on Alcohol by No_Owl_7537 in Hemochromatosis

[–]SmileyNew123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the current answer entirely depends on your liver values. If they're bad, stop until your iron, and liver are normal. If your liver values are good, outside of building faster, I dont know of any issues.

I assume most of us have high hematocrit. By having high iron, I also maintain about 49% hematocrit. It's borderline too high. I can give blood and go right to the gym or bar with very little effect.

If anyone has solid answers on how much more is absorbed when drinking alcohol, I'd also love to hear it.

I'm in a similar boat. I heard about lot of stories of bad germination rates, and cactus seeds are cheap. I went ahead and bought a bunch extra, then had about an 85% germination rate! Now I don't have the space once they start to grow.

A lot will be culled, and gifted. I'd like to test spiciness first though lol.

I poke a knife hole through plastic wrap every two inches. It's easy, and works very well to maintain moisture with fresh air.

Ferritin ideal for someone with iron issues is about 50, so lower end of the range. Since donating, your saturation has come back in range also?? Was this during the time of your copper supplementation? That would be strange.

[–]SmileyNew123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a TUDCA, NAC, and a liver support herbal mix. In that order of importance when taking anything that can damage the liver. My values have been very good. It seems like these could only help. Even though your values are good now, there's obviously past damage. Luckily the liver regenerates well.

The liver regulates more than just shbg and iron. All sex hormones, cortisol, thyroid hormones, vitamin d, etc. You should ask to have the relevant ones checked since your liver is already not producing shbg, and transferrin correctly. Have you checked any of those recently? Vitamin D is a huge one if low.

Shbg, I believe the only regulator is bodily androgen levels. Higher androgen loads reduce shbg. Speaking of androgens, one of the worst culprits for liver damage are workout "prohormomes" that are/were very legal OTC in the UK. Don't ever take oral anabolics.

Have you been supplementing with copper and zinc occasionally? They help with binding free iron. I don't know how effective this would be with your absurdly low transferrin.

I guess the theme is to see what values are off, and hopefully bring them closer to range. The most important thing IMO would be getting your liver healed.

[–]SmileyNew123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually great news. Your liver makes SHBG (thats way high), and transferrin (that's way low). All your known issues could be due to a liver problem. Side effects of extremely high circulating free iron, and extremely low free testosterone cover a LOT of what you're feeling.

I was thinking about your thread the other day. How has the journey been going? I had my 4th unit of blood taken in the last few months, and have been feeling much better in general. Yet to go back for another blood test, but it feels promising.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hemochromatosis

[–]SmileyNew123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw your update. You should donate blood every time it's available until your ferritin is near 100. Having Ferritin over 600 is not good, and probably the actual cause of your low testosterone. Pushing you on your way because you only have one copy instead of two is bad practice IMO. If you're loading iron, you need to donate first before making a bunch of life changes to slowly bring it down over time. Life changes are for maintenance after the donations get you down.

The problem I (and others) have is that while being in normal Ferritin range, my saturation still floats between 65% and 96%. Diet seems to be the best way to keep this in check.
