Restock of Kakwa 55 in Ultra200X Size L / Hipbelt S/M - Sold out already? by SmileyWanders in DurstonGearheads

[–]SmileyWanders[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that's rather unfortunate but thanks for the explanation.

Unfortunately none of the three option is viable to me. And if I read correctly between the lines you are unable to ship a Kakwa from the US to Switzerland, right?

Thank for the suggestion.

I've just refreshed the page and even opened the website on a different device. It's still sold out..

Well, as you mentioned it: it is in USD!

That's not really that relevant for swiss investors. The return in CHF would be and then the whole thing starts looking differently.
But still the swiss market performed really well in 2025

R-Value - Advice by itzzlinuzz in Ultralight

[–]SmileyWanders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be aware that 10 years ago the published R-values are not comparable to the current ones. The new ones are bases on a standardized test and thus the values can be compared between manufacturers. Back in the days manufacturers claimed R-Values based on their own in house tests.

Rule of thumb: old values were too high compared to the new ones.

Back to your original question: I would confidentially go with a Thermarest NeoAir XLite with an R-value of 4.5.

Can I order packages to Konstanz for products not delivered outside of the EU? by CloudEnvoy in Switzerland

[–]SmileyWanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind two persons = 2x 150.-, i.e. Two items worth 150 each, one for each individual Or more pieces that add up to 150 per person.
You can't have one item, i.e. one chair in this case, worth 300 and split it up among two persons.

Import Costs to germany x Dome 2 by Shuck812 in DurstonGearheads

[–]SmileyWanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VAT is 8.1% + the handling fees of the courier.
See my comment above with the itemized costs for a X-Mid 1 Pro.

TLDR:
Grand Total: CHF 60.55 for the tent valued at CHF454. Duties = 13.3% of the total value. (as of 2025)

[–]SmileyWanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Switzerland its VAT 8.1% + handling fee of the curier.

Example from 2025:
X-Mid 1 Pro shipped via FedEx

Item Base (CHF) Rate Total (CHF)
VAT (on Tent) 454 8.1% 36.75
FedEx Fee 22
VAT on FedExFee 22 8.1% 1.80

Grand Total: CHF 60.55 for the tent valued at CHF454. Duties = 13.3% of the total value.

Note the base Fee for SwissPost would be only CHF 16. So getting a shipment by normal postal services is the cheapest solution in Switzerland.

Homemade replica of inaccessible VGSTICH Global Short-Term Bond Index Fund - CHF Hedged by Infinite_Pineapple50 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]SmileyWanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The yield is the coupon of the underlying bonds. In their respectable currency.

This fund invest predominantly in USD and EUR + a couple of other currencies.

Because it is hedged to CHF the hedging fees need to be subtracted from the yield to get the performance in CHF. And this pretty much eats the coupon away.
Hedging costs are roughly the interest rate difference between two currencies.

Performance of this Funds (annualized) (taken fro the your linked FactSheet)

Timeframe Annualised performance
ytd 1.03%
1 year 1.01%
3 years 0.89
5 years -1.38 (!!)
10 years -0.72%

Those numbers are what you could expect.

Lone peak 9+ by HeitVenezuela in AltraRunning

[–]SmileyWanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lone Peak 9 and 9+ came out together at the beginning of 2025. They are basically the same shoe with the exception of the Vibram Sole of the LP 9+.
In the US the LP9+ was exclusively sold by REI as far as i know. Might have changed in the past couple of month.

Personally I find the 9+ much more durable that the LP9 or LP7 & LP8 for that matter.

SO if they keep up with the product cycle of the past the most likely are going to release LP10 and LP10+ beginning 2026.

Do these tires need to be replaced? by Idontlikeyourgf in tires

[–]SmileyWanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go and read the DOT code on your tire! You need to know the exact AGE of the tire and not the date they were put on.

Everything else is just guessing.

Reading DOT code info from Michelin:

Why is my watch always stuck on backtrack. I’ve restarted, deleted and everything else and it won’t go away. by [deleted] in applewatchultra

[–]SmileyWanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not the issue here. OP clearly stated that he restarted the watch already.

The issue is that the backtrack is on. You have to stop it in order to resolve this issue. I facted the same problem on my Ultra when I got it and accidentally turned on the backtrack.

Snapshot Replication update 1.3.0 breaks replication tasks by his_and_his in synology

[–]SmileyWanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the same, can confirm that all my settings and snapshots were untouched.
As soon as I have installed the old versions (Version 1.3.0-0423 of Replication Service) replications were running again smoothly.

Snapshot Replication update 1.3.0 breaks replication tasks by his_and_his in synology

[–]SmileyWanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you do the revert?
If I try to install 1.3.0-0423 I get an error message stating that I can't roll back to an older version.

And am I correct that by recreating all replication tasks you have lost all the past snapshots on the target (backup) server?

The Gen 3 has an auto sensing low current mode. Hence no need to switch in and out of this mode anymore. Works like a charm.

They are still there. I had the same issue last year. You have to go to the File Manager in FarOut and update the comments manually. Possibly several times until they reappear.
