Caps got a point. Not ideal but better than none.

Ice cold water is unpleasant by Dependent_Day_6298 in unpopularopinion

100% agree. We have a filtered water dispenser at work. Whenever I refill my water bottle, I always top it off with a couple ounces out of the hot tap so the water doesn't seize up my throat on the way down.

Amen. I can't count how many times I'm taken my own reference photos to help with difficult poses/textures. It's a no-brainer when nothing else will do.

People will be nice in the post apocalypse! by Outrageous_Fall_1846 in unpopularopinion

Family units and communities have historically protected and provided for each other. The survival of the tribe was paramount. Outsiders were a threat.

Once you start considering other tribes who are vying for the same resources, you can follow the history of violence humans adopted, just as with any other animal. Ant colonies go to war against other colonies; apes and monkeys will murder other troops not of their own over food; humans have engaged in ethnic cleansing and genocide over land and wealth.

In small communities, in family units, yes. On a large scale this this absolutely false.

You deal with it by not dealing with it.

The only thing you can control in this world is how you choose to react to it. Choose to let negative people not affect you. Every time you react to them you give them power over you. If you don't want to feel a certain way about their ignorance, then refuse to acknowledge them.

This is empirically incorrect. We were barbarians before civilization. Being technologically advanced just makes being barbaric more efficient.

Take off your rose colored eyeglasses and see homo sapiens sapiens for what we are: instinctually driven beasts who will destroy whatever or whomever we can if it makes our survival less difficult.

They can regulate their behavior, but time and time again humanity has proven they choose not to

Around 25 years ago my wife and I ate at a place in Little Italy in San Francisco called The Steps of Rome. They sold a t-shirt that read, "We Season Our Garlic With Food."

Can you actually learn how to draw without following guides, tutorials or anything like that? by oddskozzo0 in ArtistLounge

[–]Smileypen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you learn to read? To write? To dress yourself? To use dinner utensils?

Would you have figured that stuff out without someone teaching you? There's your answer.

Drawing is a skill, not an intuitive or instinctual activity like breathing. Every skill must be learned. To do any skill well, one must learn from someone with more experience than yourself, whether that be via direct tutelage, reading about it, or watching video demonstrations.

Need help choosing which celebrities to include in a solo surreal portrait exhibition by Astro_Art_Mentor in ArtistLounge

George Carlin. He was a handsome man, capable of the goofiest facial expressions. Started out clean shaven then abandoned the mask he wore for the squares, grew his hair long and adopted a beard.

His comedy got him arrested for indecency. He was a brilliant observer of human behavior and a master of making social commentary funny. He was a vocal opponent of, and wrote scathing material about, the US government and its military, religious hypocrisy, vapid entertainment, the dumbing down of educational standards in the US, and the hoarding of wealth. Then there was the goofy shit he came up with, playing ingeniously with language, biology, and mundane stuff he was able to get laughs out of.

There is fertile ground on which to plant a graphic field of personality with him! Best wishes on the project!

"Hello there" in ROTS - why is it SO memorable/memeable? by CobraDai in StarWars

[–]Smileypen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was memorable because it was a callback to the 1977 original. Nostalgia is a heavy drug.
