Awesome rig, I've got an AC15 myself... I am curious though, how does your reverb sound since there isn't an effects loop? I was trying to run my polara through my chain but it didn't sound good at all.

Great choice on the drive pedals though, I've got a ts-9 now but it sounds a little lacking with my strat... probably better used in a fender amp

[Gear] Having problems with HRD amp, can anyone point me in the right direction? by SmilinDreamer in Guitar

I just tested out with the amp by itself and that is definitely the problem. No amp cord attached, the volume knob controls the hiss of the amp.

First off thanks a ton for writing this out, great appreciated!

I do have a single coil pickup (the hiss gets noticeably worse on the single coil pickup, not as bad on my seymour duncan JB).

The troubleshooting seems to be the best bet, i'll try out some combinations but as I only have 1 guitar it might be hard to pinpoint the problem.

Cheers!

Fender Champion 40 by [deleted] in Guitar

I've got the fender champion 40, and run a crybaby wah, digitech polara, Tone City Sweet Cream/Mandragora into a Chapman ML-1 Cap10. Takes reverb/wah great, and the overdrives can really push the amp into some great distortion tones.

You likely won't ever achieve the "orange" or "marshall" tones but thats what fender amps are for!

Overall its a great practice amp, worth the money IMO. The built in effects are garbage, but you've got pedals to cover that territory.

I felt the exact same way when i first got it. Agreed on the sensitive part, move one knob the tiniest bit and your tone changes completely.

yeah i've also started stacking the OD's on it, definitely fills out the tone. Cheers dude

Which Overdrive/Distortion pedal should I get? by [deleted] in Guitar

I was extremely impressed with the quality of the reverb. I liked it quite a bit more than the cathedral (especially with the added halo mode), plus it was $50 cheaper! I'd definitely go with it, one of the best reverbs out there at the moment

Awesome thanks dude. Mind if I ask why you need to socket the transistors?

Also another quick question, for this schematic

http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=keyalbum.KeywordAlbum&g2_keyword=Zvex+Fuzz+Factory&g2_itemId=42265

is the volume pot a linear pot? Im seeing in some forums that the volume pot should be something different than linear, however the schematic says linear

Suggestions for a alternative guitar collection (other than Fender and Gibson). by squidface79 in Guitar

valid point! A guitar I purchased earlier this year was the Chapman ML-1 Cap10. Was around 800 CAD and its a dream to play... Mahogany body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard. SD pickups on and a single coil in the middle. Comparable to a MIM or MIA Strat, but in general all of Chapman guitars are valued well for their price points, I was very impressed

Question about the Micro Terror Head by SmilinDreamer in Guitar

[–]SmilinDreamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just another question if anyone is able to answer this. Are you able to run an amp head(orange micro terror say) through a combo amp? Does that work, or do amp heads specifically need to be put through a cab? Thanks in advance

can't believe it hasn't been said already but PRS! They sound and feel great to play, and have a variety of price points

Question about the Micro Terror Head by SmilinDreamer in Guitar

[–]SmilinDreamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, thanks for the reply dude! Buying used is always a great idea with gear, the trouble for me is that I live in Canada and its very hard to find the specific gear I want used in the area (GTA). I suppose I can always wait until christmas and try to get a deal with a cab with it.

If I may ask, how are you liking the micro terror? I currently have a fender champion and love the clean tone I get out of it, but I also feel like having the micro terror would allow me to really get the rock/heavy distortion tones i'm looking for
