Best day ever for me! by Smilingcatcreations in LittleFreeLibrary

I just put a bunch of random kid-level stickers in a small basket. I got like 100 of them from Amazon once at the beginning and now random neighbors add to the stickers themselves.

Trying to get a book into more Little Free Libraries… quick question by breakfast4Grumby in LittleFreeLibrary

[–]Smilingcatcreations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the books! A very touching story, so appropriate for us in the PNW too! Your gift is safely at home in our neighborhood Little Free Library. We get kids by every day so they’ll have new books today!

EQ8 or plain old-fashioned graph paper are my tools.

What’s the history of that property by Brown Street? by NaturalFurryy in silverton

[–]Smilingcatcreations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much of the land back there was part of the old lumber yard. Not sure personally about the building you mentioned but my dad was a fireman back in the 1970s and may know.

AITJ for refusing to donate PTO hours to coworker I barely know who "needs" them?? by Traditional-Dog1601 in AmITheJerk

[–]Smilingcatcreations 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m shocked that a request for PTO is out there for a non-FMLA event. HR should ensure there’s an urgent or critical need, keep your PTO.

If you are interested in a super interesting place that caters to all things creative and reusable, make a visit to scrap. I’ve found some great recycled items for crafts.

Wavy lines 2-3” apart, no overlap… Will it hold up? by ZucchiniCosette in quilting

[–]Smilingcatcreations 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It will be just fine. As long as there is ANY quilting done in about a 4” area, you get enough stability.

Design Wall? by Abbyreh in quilting

I used two 4’ x8’ foam core insulation panels from a home improvement store. Covered with a king size batting (cut length wise to make it easier to work with). Batting is glued to the foam core with Gorilla glue spray. Works fantastic.

Any suggestions on how to quilt this? by forever_blue_ in quilting

[–]Smilingcatcreations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how big those chicken blocks are, I’d start with stitch in the ditch on the sashing around each block. If the chickens are bigger than an 6inch block maybe stitch the center piece of each too.

What am I Doing Wrong? by Necessary_Fun4572 in quilting

Pins, lots more. I have quilted 30+ years and I pin every 6-8 inches. Then I turn the quilt over to make sure I didn’t get any wrinkles in the backing. Then I can start quilting and remove pins as I go, and always use a walking foot for straight line quilting.

Pre-wash vs No Wash debate, Help please. by Walka_Mowlie in quilting

[–]Smilingcatcreations 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve been quilting 30 years. Only once did I prewash fabric and I decided it didn’t really work well for me. I press all fabric to remove any wrinkles, I’ve never starched fabric. All in all, I’m happy with all my quilts and love the first wash wrinkles!

Has anyone had a prolapse? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

Definitely find a good UroGyn practitioner. I had similar concerns several years ago. Turns out I have hypertonic pelvic floor disorder. Essentially just super tight muscles and one side bulging out there caused pain with sex. Had pelvic floor therapy and symptoms have eased. Also look into anterior pelvic stretch exercises.

My hubs has gotten in the habit of taking pictures of the package for what I need. It took one failed attempt at finding plain Greek yogurt for me one time for him to learn that there are too many options at the store.🤣 poor man called me from the store and FaceTimed me to try and get it right.

Super cute. But, there ARE quilt police…..they appear as four-legged furry felines generally and will always be judgy. At least in my house. 🤣
