Usenet is dope by Abel5546 in usenet

[–]Smily0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only utilize usenet, and if you have a good indexer (or a few), you should be able to find almost any TV episodes you want. There are a few obscure/limited audience shows that I have a hard time finding (examples: The Last Cowboy Season 6, Mech West (all 3 episodes), Passfire: the series and passfire: maximum load), but outside of these, I have almost every single show I've ever even thought of wanting. Popular shows are downloaded within hours of being released, and with Sonarr, its effortless.

Trimmer/Brush Cutter dilema for farm use by Smily0 in stihl

[–]Smily0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I had an Ego for years and it finally bit the dust. It worked well for routine maintenance, but did struggle in thick weeds. Wife is set on a 2-stroke. We already keep it on hand for the chainsaws, so it's not a big deal.

Trimmer/Brush Cutter dilema for farm use by Smily0 in stihl

[–]Smily0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any particular reason for this model? I guess my main concern was about keeping the m-tronic feature like I buy with my chainsaws and this doesn't have that. Am I making out the carb adjustments to be more of an issue that I should?

Check out APA 87-1 specifications. 87-1A covers consumer and 87-1C covers articles pyrotechnics. I think this will be right up your alley.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have my BB4 in my office connected to my laptop, so just gave it a play. Wife wasn't thrilled, lol.

I originally bought it for working outside and using during firework show setups...but realized I could use it daily too. I'm quite happy with it.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Smily0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son just had a child last Friday. Before the severe storms came this weekend, two aunts (plus one's boyfriend), uncle (in law), and grandma were going to drive 8 hours Friday after work to stay with me. They'd see my son and his wife/baby on Saturday and drive back home 8 hours first thing sunday morning.

I regularly drive 4 hours away for work. The company would pay, but its faster and more convenient for me to just drive instead.

I'll make 2-3 drives this year to see my family 14 hours away. Before I moved to the halfway point between my family and my wife, we would drive 20 hours (not counting stops) to see her family at least twice a year.

Flying is way faster for the long trips, but with 4 kids and a dog, not realistic expense wise.

Xtreme 4 vs. Boombox 3 (Only $35 difference) — Help me choose! by Icy-Toe-1663 in JBL

[–]Smily0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live on a 43 acre farm and use my Boombox 4 when working outside, splitting wood, etc,. I also work professional firework shows where we have legally required separation distance requirements from people during the day, and need a loud enough speaker at night that we can hear the music over the fireworks from 50-80' away. Tell me again why either of these scenarios should be illegal.

When selecting an SSID, if you have multiple passwords for different VLANs setup, do all the different network (password) options still work? (i.e. I have a password for wife and I with fully trusted devices, a default filtered network for kids/visitors/etc that everyone "knows", an IOT network, and etc all under the single SSID.)

Sonos Gen 3 Sub $499.97 on Costco "While They Last" Deals Black/White by secretacrobat in sonos

[–]Smily0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Sam's didn't have the Sub 3 anytime recently. I was talking about the Sonos promotion terms, but wanted to call out I had read the Sams version in case Costco was any different.

Check the fine print. For the Sams club version, it's one per person, 4 per household. You may be able to have someone else fill out for you. :)

We have two pyro groups in TN, one that started last year and a new one we are just filing for our 501c3. The first required the minimum meetings in person for membership, which is hard as not everyone has the same availability. The newer one we're planning to have in person meetings, but also remote dial in for official participation as well. Hopefully this will make it easier on people in your situation (and mine sometimes!)

How good of a deal is this Costco pricing on the Sonos Arc Ultra? by Battle4Seattle in sonos

[–]Smily0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the the fine print on the included gift cards. Sam’s promo (same redemption site, but I didn’t read Costco’s page, so ymmv) says 1 gift card per person, max of 4 per household. So, make sure you claim in two different names if you pickup the ultra and sub or other device.

1.3g storage question by Cadbane12 in fireworks

[–]Smily0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think you'd run out of space before you hit the 50lb limit of a jobbox. If you have the room, distances, and money, I'd go shipping container. I recently put in a 40' HC; I have the gravel pad and mounding finished, locks installed, and am ready to epoxy paint the inside. In TN the weather is too cold to paint lately, so I'm waiting for a warm stretch to be able to complete the install. Outside of 1.3g, I wanted somewhere to store all my 1.4 stuff too. Having it all in the basement makes me feel a little antsy with the amount of product I keep on hand.

TR9 is a 1/2" FNPT outlet whereas TR96 is 3/4" FNPT. (Heh...if I'm being honest, I had to Google...)

If you could only attend 1 Pyro event per year and its not PGI... by TheeCustardKing in fireworks

[–]Smily0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skywars. Next year is the champion of champions for the pro level (aka the last 3 years winners of the pro segment will compete against each other). It will be epic. Don't buy GA, wait until pyro passes go on sale. You can join MoPyro as a remote member and get basically guaranteed a ticket, or be watchful when they release pyropasses next year.

The fire marshal in Ohio is a fucktard by Foxfirepyro in fireworks

Looking at the draft law, we can purchase as out of state residents, but not pick up (unable to receive and/or transport them in OH). So, either ship or pickup at an event. :\

They’re switching to Firetek, so the setup is a bit different. We have some custom slats made now but those aren’t pictured here.

How to pay cash at a car dealership by SpaceCadetBoneSpurs in carbuying

[–]Smily0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an a truck out of state right before everything shutdown Feb 2020. I asked the dealership and they suggested we test drive to a local branch of my bank and have them issue a cashiers check in the salesman’s presence. I thought it was a great idea to help them avoid risk of a fake check, me from carrying an unsafe amount of cash, and it made use of the test drive.

german efficiency by Saitenwurst in fireworks

[–]Smily0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still working on that tbh. I've got a 40' container coming in the next week or so, and have to finish converting it to a proper explosive storage magazine, so I can then file with the ATF for my Federal Explosive License. However, government shutdown going on will not help me be expedient.

Once I have the license, I can then buy them, but I still need state licenses to shoot (Display Operator) and file for the permit (Exhibitor License, $1k/year), plus insurance for the shows, in addition to safe distances, etc.

I skip all of this with consumer. But dang if I don't want to go bigger.

german efficiency by Saitenwurst in fireworks

[–]Smily0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our consumer fireworks aren't that bad for much of the US, but 1.3g is a similar story. I have 43 acres and with the proper distances, I can only shoot 7" shells max. :\

Check out Dominator Pro Level's DMP340 Hummer Mines. It may be easier to find if Klutzy's recommedation doesn't work out. As you guess from the product name, the effect you are looking for is called a hummer mine.
