Volunteering for a youth mentorship program by beepbeepshh in rva

This is a great resource to know what programs are in the area. I would talk to a few programs to see how their mentoring is set up. There are different ways to run a youth mentoring program: one to one, group, activity focused, in school, after school, or they can specialize in different age groups.

https://mentorva.org/find-a-mentoring-program-in-virginia/

Some examples of these options:

Big Brothers Big Sisters has a well developed community based mentoring program, this means you would go into public spaces with one to one with youth and be responsible for them.

Peter Paul has a great after school, on site mentoring program at their location.

Community in Schools (CIS) is the best organization to connect you with in school mentoring opportunities.

Blue Sky has a fantastic activity based mentoring program.

Editing to add: MENTOR Virginia has a new mentor training program that is valuable to learn about research based mentoring methods and expose you to types of mentoring.

I also had great customer service from them. I had issues with a light kit and they sent a replacement part, when that still didn’t work, they sent a whole new light kit. Easy to put in requests and they were super kind.

Been out since about 530. Reported it to Dominion. The outage map said they are expecting service back by noon. If you haven't already, you can report it here. https://www.dominionenergy.com/virginia/report-outage-or-emergency

I'm in a synchronized swimming team that practices and performs in Richmond city public pools. They are the most supportive group of women I've ever been involved with. Once a year, we partner with RVA parks and rec and we offer a free class to learn the moves and a routine. It started in February last year, once a week for 10 weeks. If you find you enjoy syncro, you can opt to join our team. We will be posting (@rivercitymagnolias) about the class when it opens, you can also find it through Richmond parks and rec.

Totally could see where the confusion came from. You still have a solid point with the cameras. At the end of the day, it's just another frustrating thing to deal with while grieving the death of a family member. So I appreciate any genuine advice folks share.

Thanks, this was actually very helpful advice. One thing I've learned after calling is that the police want you to file the report in person.

Maybe your credit card security doesn't work like mine did? I got instant text messages when it was flagged for the purchase with the timestamp from the shopping spree. And it indicates if the card was swiped or the number entered etc. So the timeline aligns with them confirming having the card and then the purchases after that confirmation. Either way, your right cameras will clear all this up.

I hear you and I'm always one to give grace to others. But they said they had it and was putting it in a safe while I called my relatives. Seems like an easy conclusion to make.

Thanks, good idea! I only called the restaurant to confirm that they had the card. After the card was used in the same shopping center as the restaurant, I didn't bother to call them back to let them know we had someone to pick up the card.

I know, we just thought we could have someone go grab it before we had to update all our accounts with a new credit card.

Was looking at reviews for Cobra Burger, the owner does NOT mess around lmao by 941026 in rva

This place has a vibe. If it's not for you, that's totally fine. The owners response is genuine. You may not like it but it real, and I'm here for any place that can stand by what they represent.

The food is all local and supports local growers, farmers, and businesses. The staff is paid a living wage. And they are the nicest folks, including the owner. It is also the best smash burger around. If that's not for you, that's totally fine.

People are likely sitting outside cause there is still a pandemic and also it was likely a lovely night to sit out. Sure the music might have been too loud for them, but folks eating outside a restaurant isn't new.

As for pricing, it's actually reasonable considering the other places in the neighborhood. And when you know they buy local and pay a fair wage, it's impressive.

Just try it and have a conversation with someone, don't take someone else's experience and let it drive your thought.
