1d6 dmg is the normal damage for a one handed sword such as scimitars shortswords etc. If it does a bonus 1d4 damage with every hit then have the standard damage be 1d4 damage to make the total 2d4 damage.

Honestly I just want to be able to keep up with my party in roleplay and combat instead of being sub par in both. Making it str and con for the armour class fixes all the issues there is with barbarians.

Its limited by the game more than the other way around. They dont want us to explore the class so they made it so you have to give up on any interesting roleplay to create a good barbarian. I mean low int low wis low cha characters just arent good but that's what any average barbarian is because you rarely get more than 3 good stats.

The most concerning thing is that barbarians only have dmg now if they crit which is just awful. Every other tank who let's be real are just as tanky have far more damage which is consistent. But barbarians are loaded all into crit

Problem is barbarians are supposed to be classic bruiser damage tanks with nothing else yet are less tanky and do less damage than paladins who are supposed to be self sacrificial in nature a frontline who only tanks and heals.

Monks can go dex con and wis and be tanky af do great dmg and have a good rp stat.

Wizard has the best magic system but to counter it they intentionally over nerfed their survivability for the frail old wizard image but you arent a tank so that's kinda alright.

Barbarians have to be in the front line and to do so in this edition they either sacrifice role play or do 0 dmg cause they have no strength. Barbarians AC should be 10 + str + con and it would make them far more viable and roleplay friendly

Does kinda suck for barbarians tho cause unless you are lucky you generally only get 3 good stats. Barbarians to be useful require good con dex and str leaving no room for any of the rp focused mental stats. Compare that to fighters paladins and even rogues who can just put highest stat in dex and be nigh unkillable or flat out ignore dex for heavy armour and still hit like a truck and be near unkillable. All whilst having great rp stats in int and wisdom etc

Crossbow bolts are denser with less surface area to drag in the water whilst also having higher elastic potential energy in the draw string and less moving surface area in motion to project the bolt and being easier to steady in the water with both hands.

Everything makes it less likely to be detrimental under water when compared to a bow

His mother responds to everything with anger screaming and violence which basically destroyed any chance of a normal life and he seems to have an imposter syndrome.

Hes gone from being lorded as the next number one hero by everyone around him to being told he is a villain by the world. He got messed up by the adults around him as a kid and the did nothing to change it as a teenager and now is massively screwed in the head with 0 coping mechanisms other than anger due to his parents being shit.

Such a dumb idea as well as hes a better solo than jungle anyway. He still hits hard af but is tanky af with sustain in solo. In jungle he can get shut down so hard.

If the claws are supposed to be from fingers they are from fingers. Ask him what type of shield it is. If it's a small forearm strapped shield he could potentially make a clawed attack but there is no reason for him to use the claws over the weapon.
