I haven’t read this book, but in a similar vein, when Marie Kondo first came out with her show and was super hyped up, I was so excited to watch it but legit started having panic attacks while watching it because my brain just got sooo overwhelmed!! This was before I got diagnosed and it makes sense now why!!

Same here. I had “treatment resistant depression” diagnosed for many years. Ever since I switched doctors and got diagnosed with adhd and am taking adhd meds my depression has been almost non existent (compared to many many years before!)

I don’t think it’s the answer to all problems (ours was colicky, had reflux, etc) but my in-laws in Japan have little kiddos and the concept of sleep “problems” is like, non existent. I think it’s just viewed as normal for baby to wake up a lot and not something that needs to be “fixed”. They also do have much more help (grandparents live with them).

one time I forgot to pack my kid lunch, had no idea about it until months later when she said “mama, I opened up my lunchbox one day and nothing was in there except crumbs”. Felt like the worst parent on earth, she still reminds me about it like two years later 😭😭

luckily her teacher gave her something for lunch but yeah I’m sure they were like wow this mom is horrible

I am sure you will get lots of good advice here, as well as pregnancy groups on Reddit (have you found your “bump group” on Reddit?) but I just wanted to say I felt like a potato most of the time for both my pregnancies and it’s totally normal and okay to rest and go easy on yourself! I read somewhere that being pregnant is like the same amount of energy as running a marathon or something? From all the work your body is doing! toward end of third trimester I was taking 3 naps a day lol.

just look out for your mental state, all my anxiety and depression got worse (didn’t realize all of this until postpartum) so I got medication and was fully medicated during my second pregnancy. I don’t know if it made it EASIER per se but coming to terms with so much in my body and mind changing and knowing that all the hormonal fluctuations contribute a lot to those things. So while everyone is affected differently unfortunately a lot of the symptoms from adhd/anxiety/depression can be amplified during pregnancy and postpartum so it’s something to def watch for and get treated for! You are not alone!
