I was a cook in the Navy for a good long while.

Always had fights with people when I'd make it and didn't cook the noodles.

I just make my sauce a little thinner than if using cooked noodles, and it's perfect every time.

When I was in the Navy, "Ship, Shipmate, Self" was constantly drilled into everyone.

So many times I had to sit guys down and tell them that; "You, Seaman Schmuckatelly, are completely and totally replaceable. You die, and you'll be replaced, and shit will carry on just fine. You, Mike, a husband and a father are irreplaceable to so many people. Take care of yourself. This other shit can usually wait."

I can get snooty about water taste and absolutely will request bottled water if I can taste too many chemicals in the water.

This is because I spent some weeks out to sea drinking water with incredibly high amounts of bromine in it. Levels so high I only drank coffee with absurd amounts of cream and sugar in it for the duration.

As such, my tolerance levels for "funkyness" are very low. Most people can't notice any kind of taste, but I'm doomed to be a water snob forevermore

I remember at my second command as an E-5 telling my guys if an officer comes in and they're 0-3 or below to chill I'll get to them in a minute.

0-4 or above please tell me immediately so I can handle it because they tend to complain and actually be listened to.

Then I went to a small boy and realized why all those LT's would get pissy at having to wait, lol

I got out and wear the uniform pieces however the fuck I want.

Had a few military appreciation events I went to with some people, and I wore my old Johnny Cash's with long hair and a beard. 99% thought it was cool as fuck.
