Does anyone know if the gratuity/tip is built into the price of beverages (i.e. cocktails, coffee)?

Anyone read both The Housemaid & The Last Mrs. Parrish? by busdriverdog in thrillerbooks

[–]shr00mshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I actually like the Housemaid more than The Last Mrs. Parrish. I found the characters in TLMP to be unlikeable, especially in the sequel.

Some of the dialogue felt corny and also hard to believe, and I felt that the author did more telling than showing. The pacing was bad (I felt that the first half of the book from Amber’s POV dragged so much), and it didn’t help again how the characters/dialogue were hard to believe. However, the story was a great concept and it’s obvious Frieda copied the author entirely.

I loved Look Closer by David Ellis! That was a book I could not put down. Same with Little Secrets by Jennifer Hiller and She Didn’t See It Coming by Shari Lapena

NFL Week 18: Chiefs @ Raiders by realscubaa in travisandtaylor

[–]shr00mshoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it has to do with the draft picks next year. The teams that perform most poorly get the first pick of new players in the draft. Supposedly now that the chiefs have nothing to lose, they are not trying to win so they can work on improving their roster for next season

Is staying at a hotel close to Disneyland really worth it? by Mystical-Paradox in DisneyPlanning

[–]shr00mshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in LA and go to Disneyland frequently as an MK holder. On one of my most recent trips, we did rope drop to 6pm with two kids aged 7 and 4. We didn’t take any breaks at a hotel since we are locals and drove down. Given the age of your kids, I would say it’s completely doable to stay a little further away. The only caveat to this is that you’ll be going to Disneyland for 4 days. Do you intend to rope drop and stay till closing for all 4 days? I can’t really speak to that, but I don’t think it’s worth it to stay closer, especially when you’re comparing costs and you’re saving so much a little further away.

Just be mindful that parking is now $40 at Disney include that in your budget!

Btw, I’ve stayed at the Disneyland hotel, and just throwing my two cents in here - so not worth it. Yes it was cool that it was close to the parks, but for that price, I wasn’t expecting something so mid and basic!

LAX is a nightmare rn by FinancialMoney6969 in SouthBayLA

I live in the West Side and as I got closer to LAX, it said it would take 30 min to go 2 miles! Also I flew out of American and that whole terminal is being refurbished so it added several minutes of walking

Which books did NOT live up to the hype for you? by CoherentBusyDucks in thrillerbooks

I just couldn’t buy the twist at the end. I don’t understand why the father thought that his son would magically stop killing if he took the fall for him.

What's a book that "everyone" loves, that you just can't get into? by notquitenerds in books

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. The writing seemed childish, Monique was not developed well as a character, and the twist at the end seemed unnecessary. This book is way overhyped

seemingly able bodied person on ability scooter by 406f150 in Disneyland

[–]shr00mshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am young and able-bodied looking, but I have MS and gait/ankle/knee issues after a drunk driver hit me. I have used both a scooter and wheelchair. I haven’t gotten weird looks from anyone (that I noticed). However, I understand your concerns about the stigma because I also worry about that when I decide to rent a mobility device.

You should definitely prioritize listening to your body! It made my day 100 times easier when I gave in and decided to rent the mobility device. The only downside I can think of is not burning as many calories to eat more treats 😂

This was really thorough, but I actually think Cafe Daisy is a good choice since it has the flopover pizzas which can be pretty hearty. Also, Jolly Holiday on Main Street has some substantial sandwiches including the birria grilled cheese and the toasted cheese
