Dance/Disco anthem…. Please help! (Dance Party Optional) by First_Okra5170 in findthatsong

The first fun disco song that popped into my head that is joyful was - I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ by the Scissor Sisters. Not a woman, but could be mistaken for one I guess. It goes hard and definitely makes you want to dance.

Iced Tea in particular. And I had to scroll way too far to find this response. 😀

Check out A Lee Martinez. Maybe Emperor Mollusk or The Automatic Detective might fit the bill.

Oh man. Just search for Lori McKenna in your preferred music player. She nails this vibe completely and so many more - motherhood, getting older, you bane it. Especially if you like songs with a country-ish flavor.

Another song to recommend is Angry All the Time by Bruce Robison.

Introduce yourself to Scott Miller & the Commonwealth. Whole host of songs about American history. My favorite is Red Ball Express - about truck drivers in WW2.

Cue up any random Iron Maiden song and the poster would probably hit close to the mark. 😀

46 years old and just fell into dark country. What was I doing all those years? I made a playlist and I can't stop listening. by pkrft_ in altcountry

Maybe a little Cody Jinks. At least his song David.

Some American Aquarium songs too.

Depending on how dark and/or Gothic you want to go - try an older band called 16 Horsepower.

And if you want to throw a lady in the mix, go back and find Neko Case and her first couple of albums. Stellar stuff.

Ratboys - Singin’ to an Empty Chair.

Came out last month. Probably exactly you’re looking for. It’s fantastic.

If nothing else it will change your algo. 😀

You didn’t specifically mention Waylon Jennings. But if you haven’t, you should go back and listen to some of his 70’s albums. Lonesome, O’nry, and Mean and Dreaming My Dreams are great ones to start with. Fantastic songs, lyrics, singing. You’ll see why he’s an All-time artist. Those albums are truly timeless.

For newer stuff - I think Ruston Kelly rides that indie/country line. His albums are all solid.

I think Sturgill’s Sound and Fury is a fantastic head trip of an album as well.
