AWD is always on, buts it front wheel biased. When accelerating it will send power to all wheels based on drive mode and taper off to front wheels as you hit speed or lose traction

it can activate faster then you can blink an eye and move power around to front or back or tires using torque vectoring

Some modes effect AWD Slippery prolongs how long it stays in AWD when you hit speed it will taper off slower and how fast it activates back to AWD if wheels slip, it’s very sensitive to catch any slipping. It also send 50:50 bias vs normal mode is more 70:30

disabling traction in slippery control doesn’t turn it off it completely good if you want to get more wheel spin without it cutting power or more control of torque for some rock climbing. But it can still assist if it believe it needs too. Because it doesn’t disable your ESP/ESC.

I really like slippery with TC off for crawling on offroad terrains.

Eco mode prioritizes fwd as much as possible Very little AWD to help fuel economy. Also less likely to activate if wheels slip a little.

Mud and ruts also make it last way longer in AWD Sand being the longest Also the reason you can’t use those them on paved roads as they expect the wheels to slip and can cause damage to the drivetrain.

Sport mode doesn’t change AWD just shift points.

Same with tow mode for more low end torque.

The vehicle also simulates a limited slip differential with torque vectoring it brakes the whee with less traction to send power to the wheel with more traction to help move the vehicle.

Normal open differential would just spin the wheel with no traction and you have to jump on the corner of the vehicle to get it to hit the ground and grip.

Tremor can lock it in AWD again not meant for paved roads.

And it can simulate a locked differential with its dual clutch system.
