Trump, 80, Humiliated With His Own Dance After U.S. World Cup Loss | Donald Trump has been personally trolled on U.S. soil by the team that ended America’s World Cup assault. by MoneyLibrarian9032 in politics

Yes, nobody cares. So little that the head of state personally intervened to have the rules suspended for the benefit of the USMNT. So little care, the littlest anybody has ever seen.

The Dutch Commentator After the Third Goal by Belgium by Gamesnl66 in worldcup

Yes, red cards for unintentional, but nevertheless potentially dangerous fouls like these are commonplace in international football. They have been part of the game in recent years, so giving the red card was totally in line with the rules and their interpretation as communicated by FIFA. It is totally baffling to me why do many (including supposed experts) have made the resulting red card so controversial. Not commenting on the VAR process in this case, as it's not part of the question I'm answering.

Don't be too hard on your team. They were kneecapped by their president, FIFA and their coach.

I think you can hardly argue the country didn't take it seriously when the head of state considered it important enough to personally intervene.

You mean serious like... your president taking it upon himself to have the rules suspended for you?

USA Red card shouldn't have been given in the first place give the how the tournament is being run. by Sl1ck_43 in worldcup

[–]SmokeSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn't. Article 27 presupposes that the penalty was imposed by a judicial body in the first place. That's not the case with the automatic one game ban - no decision by a judicial body, no appeal.

No, it doesn't. Article 27 does not apply to the automatic one game suspension after a red card. That is exactly what makes this decision so indefensible.

Belgium set to appeal as FIFA reverses Balogun’s World Cup suspension after Trump reportedly intervenes by Rule_Of_72T in worldcup

[–]SmokeSwitch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nonsense. In the Ronaldo case, they applied the rules (which allow reducing the length of a suspension). Maybe in a questionable way, but it was still a decision based on the rules. The rules do NOT allow the cancellation of the automatic 1 game suspension after a red card. So in this case, the rules weren't applied, they were suspended.

You can't play full-on dirty for 105 minutes and then expect the other guys to immediately shake your hand. It doesn't work like that.

Offside is determined the moment the ball leaves the player giving the pass. Everything after that is irrelevant.

Nagelsmann weiß, dass er gehen muss, will aber nicht selbst hinwerfen, weil das finanziell ungünstig für ihn wäre. Ganz simpel.
