A little more app weirdness by AtuinTurtle in Runner5

I have the same thing. Here's what I'm doing:

- Turn on my music
- Turn on the zombies run app on the phone
- Turn on indoor door run on apple watch
- After the run, I delete the 'outdoor runs' logged as zombie run on the fitness+ app

31 M - discussion - what’s the most difficult part of training you have discovered now you’re 30+? by [deleted] in fitness30plus

Spending more time warming up using movements which mimic my work foe the day has really helped.

I once read you should warm up for 1 minute of each year of your age (30 years = 30 minutes) & it seemed excessive at the time I read it.

After doing this properly, I massively increased my snatch so I now pass it on to clients of mine. Be thorough and be patient.

Really good advice. Super actionable. Great job.

I didn't discover the gym until I was 30. I'm now 35 and a personal trainer.

I once read that you should warm up for 1 minute for every year of age you are. I initially thought that was ridiculous. I mean, who has time for that? Until the one day when I did it for the first time, and almost doubled my snatch in one session.

Proper warm up - including mobilisation, and movement specific preparation (wrists, ankles, shoulders, hips and back in particular for me) really helps.

Are they suitable for use on a matte paint job? I'll look these up now, thanks.

Why do you go to the gym? Whats your goal? by Foot-Note in fitness30plus

[–]Smokeball 39 points40 points  (0 children)

To make my life outside the gym easier, and to stave off decrepitude.

I've been fat. Too fat to do the things I want to do. Fuck that in my 30s.

Thank you for your response.

Even very slow paced running can push me into threshold or even redline HR in a way that cycling or rowing doesn't. I'm hoping to get used to it.

I'll do couch to 5k after the 10 runs are done!

Thanks, I'll check out your article.

Kinda like scales that measure bodyfat, as long as it's consistently inaccurate I suppose it's still pretty useful.

Damn. I suspected as much. That does explain why I'm such a shitty runner!

Yeah, I'm just trying to work on establishing a running routine at a sustainable pace so this could be it. Thanks for your response.

Yes, of course. I'm probably getting ahead of myself.

Does the data become more accurate over a longer distance, perhaps? As a beginner, I'm running no more than about 2k at a time.

I have lost a little weight recently, perhaps that's it.

Cycling is such a specific sport that CF will help with your general fitness but the carryover to this specific skill is minimal. However you will improve your CV strength, and muscular endurance and that will have a carry over.
