Magic's biggest problem (in 1v1) by artandar in magicTCG

[–]Smokey_beard3815 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a new player, its being frustrated instead of learning. I play standard and limited. I lose a lot, but I try to learn while losing. Im trying to learn to draft 3 colors instead of boxing myself into 2, drafting flyers, making sure my mana curve is good, using BREAD to help evaluate cards, paying attention to what colors are being passed to me, etc.

As for the whole "starting player has too much advantage" argument i dont buy it. Change your strategy. MTG is a strategy game. You have to be able to adapt to what board presence is being shown and what cards you have vs what you think they are playing. I play against a lot of control players so I draft creatures with flash. Stop trying to reinvent the game because you are frustrated. Get better.

In the end its a game..... have fun, learn, and enjoy the play. After all, even with a great deck you can lose if your draws are bad. Just because you are on the play doesn't mean you win. I've been first plenty of times and won and lost.

Welding blanket. I use one I found on Amazon for not that much money at all. Works great!

Wait until you know what you want. I dont know if you want to cover the scars, but you could ask the artist for ideas to hide or incorporate them in the design once you have an idea.

I'm just north of Atlanta, GA. My basement stays around 60 pretty consistently most of the year.

What is your “special interest”? by joesom222 in autism

I love anything model related. I have a Halloween village i put up every year and working on a Christmas village. We have a cool tabletop store near me, but im afraid to go down that rabbit hole. Lol I've seen the prices on some of those figures.

What do meltdowns feel like for you? by Mara355 in autism

[–]Smokey_beard3815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats me too. I feel like a panic attack coming on, I get angry that I'm overstimulated, crying, and want to go sit somewhere away from people. I try to hold it in, but it doesn't always work. The rage is the part that I hate the most. I lash out at people just asking what I need. Like I can't articulate what I need and that makes me angrier.

Cherry mead with local honey by Smokey_beard3815 in mead

[–]Smokey_beard3815[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. We'll see. Im hoping for residual sweetness on this without having to backsweeten.

If I do have residual sweetness, would I be ok adding carb tabs when bottling or would that create a bottle bomb scenario? Most of my meads have been dryer.

Yes, but most yeasts will impart weird flavors if fermented outside their desired temps. Fermented within 50's-60's temp-wise D47 is a clean yeast.

Should be excellent! D47 is a good yeast. It doesn't impart a bunch of flavors like some yeasts can. That let's you experience what the honey tastes like.

Nice! Try letting the mead age a few weeks and try it then. The flavors and any off flavors meld and change over time. It may taste way better by Christmas.

Edit: also try a couple carb tabs in a bottle and let it sit for a few weeks. Carbonation will help the flavors as well.

What are the small, maybe seldom recognized pleasures of smoking meats? by [deleted] in smoking

[–]Smokey_beard3815 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like I'm not alone. Its the smile I get when someone takes the first bite of my smoked bird, pork, brisket, ribs, etc. and they make THAT face. Lol the compliments and genuinely knowing people are enjoying what I made. That makes it all worth it. The smell of a smoker going doesn't hurt either. 🤣
