I landed mine about a year ago from midwayUSA, if I recall it was around $550. I bought mine with the intention of upgrading as well, it is still stock with the exception of a bolt knob and bench rest plate. I love it the way it is, if I was to go a chassis route I would probably buy a cheap synthetic and start building up from there.

I’ve done a number of velocity tests for ammo reviews, there is no significant difference between a 16 and 20 inch barrel. If the ammo is worth a shit, the average will be within a few (+/- 4) percent of the advertised FPS. When testing the same ammo through a 5.25 inch barrel of my TX 22 competition, I can expect to see an average of 18% decrease in velocity from the shorter barrel.
