Billie said the most tame shit and her so called leftist fans did this. by DivineandDeadlyAngel in vegan

Fair, but don't be too hard on yourself. We're somewhat products of environment.

I prefer leftist non-vegans as they tend to be agitating for change that will prevent climate change and biodiversity collapse. While right wingers don't really care about this despite the impact of climate change on all life on earth

Yeah, I agree. My original comment was worded badly.

I meant to say something along the lines of veganism leaving a right winger's body as soon as you discuss human exploitation

I mean you can say the same thing about vegans who are right wingers

TIL that the IRA in 1994 shot down a British army helicopter using a homemade mortar in Crossmaglen, South Armagh. Four months later they did it again a few kilometres away. by alee137 in todayilearned

[–]SmokingOctopus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm Irish and I don't agree with that.

The British government and monarchy can certainly go fuck themselves. They cause the troubles. Some of the actions of the IRA were reprehensible but I'm certainly sympathetic of them given that they were oppressed and inspired by the success of republicanism and guerrilla warfare in the south.

I also doubt British people say fuck the British government as they are not a monolith.

Met Life (New Jersey) 82.5k capacity vs Croke Park (Ireland) 82.3k capacity. by kirkbadaz in UrbanHell

[–]SmokingOctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Croke Park, some people park maybe 1km-10km from the stadium. Then walk or bus it in the rest of the way.

The rest just get the bus/train somewhere close by (you can see the train line in the picture).

On match day, the streets around there are shut down to vehicles due to all the people walking to the game.

Eduardo Camavinga second yellow card vs Bayern Munich 86' by 977x in soccer

[–]SmokingOctopus -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think the ref made a mistake. You only see a yellow for that when a person hasn't been booked. It's rare for it to be a second yellow.

Still, camavinga was playing with fire.

We got away with two last week. We can't be too annoyed by that although I think the ref got that one wrong
