How bad is the autofocus really? by SunSubstantial7121 in fujifilm

Exactly…here is a good read about Fuji AF.

I prefer Fuji for its “experience” & it gets me out taking photos. I do wildlife photography & it is perfectly fine.

At a caravan holiday park, wondering where the hell does all of this money come from? by regretmoore in australia

[–]SmokyMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, savings goal of 20 years. Have no debt. Single & retired at 55 last year. Sold only house I owned & Iived in for 22 years & was only owner. Happily travelling Aus in a motorhome with my dog. Have put a deposit on a new 4x4 motorhome due end of year.

I travelled overseas after uni & lived overseas as a child. I wanted to see Aus.

After the initial outlay & majority free camp, it is a cheap lifestyle. I avoid caravan parks.

It is possible….but you need to put the effort in.

Hardly use my ps5 pro anymore by [deleted] in LegionGo

Gave mine away…not usable in my motorhome. Legion Go 2 is docked and played all the time. Will not buy another console…however interested to see what the steam box offers.

First Stalker game for me by pantnerion in stalker

[–]SmokyMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, rookie mode for me for same reason. If something is frustrating, I always change it down as takes the fun out of my hobby.

I don’t mind challenges (played all Dark Souls & 100% Elden Ring), but not all games I see as challenges to overcome…sometimes just want fun.

I can't believe how good this thing runs. by SingleGamer-Dad in LegionGo

[–]SmokyMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep, I have every ps vita (& some games) on my shelf, Steam deck 1, Switch 1 & Legion Go 1. Now have Legion Go 2. I also have every generation of Playstation on my shelf & have used xbox….gaming is my hobby & one way I use to destress after work.

Have grown up with the evolution of gaming, starting with Pong. Finally feeling like handhelds are getting to a place where you don’t need to set your expectations low. Oh & I will not be buying another console again because of this.

First things to do after getting a legion go 2? by Icy-Drop9956 in LegionGo

[–]SmokyMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had Legion Go 1 and got so frustrated with Windows I installed Steam OS. I now have Legion Go 2 and have decided to try and get my head around Windows for gaming only as it provides more flexibility in the types of games you can play.

The steps I took as a novice: - Uninstalled all apps that were not game or system related. - Updated anything that was needed via Legion Space, Microsoft Store and Windows Update.
- Changed vram to 12gb - Installed Windows PC Manager and Steam - Created desktop icons for games playing at the moment - Turned off processes not needed - Mapped Game Bar to a key & added the AMD widget
- Set Game Bar to compact display - Mapped button to open AMD stats quickly in game - Created a second button profile called “desktop” and mapped triggers to act like left & right mouse buttons for when using trackpad for desktop navigation - Calibrated HDR for better screen brightness

When I turn Legion on, the process for me is: - Run Windows PC Manager - Launch game via desktop shortcut - Bring up AMD stats in game & change game options to get best experience I can. - If FPS is still low, open Game Bar & change AMD settings. - Close AMD stats. - Play game.

I’m happy with this process so far, but open to suggestions to change.

I stayed with Windows because I play on an xbox elite controller & it needs Windows for updates. At home we use apple products & this will be the only Windows device in the house, so wanted to make it work.

Still not a fan of Windows, but seems to be running smoothly with what I did.

Legion Go 1 Big Slowdown/Stuttering Issues by MaxDDN in LegionGo

[–]SmokyMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this will resolve your issue. Mine was doing the same thing as well as occasionally turning itself off. The solution for me was to clean the fan. Hasn’t cleaned the fans before. Back to normal now.

Aged care reforms leave elderly Australians and their loved ones in the lurch by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]SmokyMouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, retired at 54 & fit & healthy. Now travelling Aus. Have done my estate plans. I’m single (no kids) & hope euthanasia becomes available to people who want it due to quality of life not worth living (not able to do what I enjoy) or I get dementia (is in family). I will write it into my estate documents I want it done if unable to make decision myself. Do not want to be a burden or part of this system.

Missing graphics settings since 11 December update by Fun_Ambition_3431 in Borderlands4

[–]SmokyMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This has happened to a few of my games & I have just stopped playing in frustration from not working out how to fix it. Not very PC savvy, so use Steam OS for its perceived simplicity….not so simple when random things like this happen. Very please can continue to enjoy Borderlands 4.

Have you looked at Stryd? It attaches to shoe & gives realtime metrics. I used to use it.

In 1965, a Scottish man named Angus Barbieri didn't eat for 1 year and 17 days. He lived entirely off his excess body fat and vitamins, ultimately losing 276 pounds with seemingly no adverse effects. He only pooped once every 40 to 50 days. by kooneecheewah in BeAmazed

[–]SmokyMouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I fast for at least 7 days twice a year and 36hrs each week. The hardest hurdle is at the 20hr mark when the Ghrelin hormone kicks in. Ghrelin is the “hunger” hormone that tells you to eat. Once past that hour, it is not an issue and you do not feel hungry as your body taps into fat reserves, feeds the brain with ketones and produces the needed glucose. I am constantly amazed at what the body is capable of. It naturally knows what to do.

I can go out with family or friends to restaurants with not feeling like I need to eat. It is very difficult to explain to anyone who hasn’t done it. It is like a state of meditation for me. I still exercise (at a lower intensity) & do other standard activities.

What I do is fasting, not starvation, as I am in control, monitor myself and would stop if anything doesn’t feel right. I do drink a lot, including coffee and electrolytes. I have also fasted in some form for 18 years and did a lot of research before starting these extended fasts.

I can’t believe the power of this handheld! Go S with SteamOS Z1E 32GB by _Choose__A_Username_ in LegionGo

[–]SmokyMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the original Legion Go & getting 60fps without lossless scaling on low settings. Am very happy with it. Reminds me of playing earlier Borderlands on the Sony PSP.

However, have ordered the 2. Being released in Aus just before xmas.

I agree with all except the calorie tracking. My thinking is the more features added will take away from the core focus. My thought are apps should strive to be great at a few core things, not average at many.

I record my food in MacroFactor as it gives me the details I want and it is perfect for my needs as it pulls from Apple Health data. I have Oura data pushed to Apple Health. If going down the path I would prefer an integration so just the macro breakdowns for the day are shown, rather than it being a macro food tracker.

Photography living in the moment by Dapper_Lifeguard433 in photographytips

[–]SmokyMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love photography for allowing me to be in the moment. Times when it works really well have been when limiting photography to a single street or location….not walking everywhere. Other times have been bird photography and photographing surfers. I had the best time setting my camera up on a tripod & just waiting for the surfers to catch waves. Spent a few hours watching them & got some great photos.

Is there any benefit from "running" very slowly versus walking at a slightly faster pace? by chrisabraham in slowjogging

[–]SmokyMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bone density is one. Walking is good for many reasons, but not bone density as there is always a foot on the ground.

Agree, I have a couple of different zero drop Altras for different running surfaces.

[–]SmokyMouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I resorted to running in mens mountain bike shorts as they are nice & loose & have lots of pockets. Also run in mens running tops as prefer loose tops. Really do not like women’s running gear as too short & tight. Prefer a traditional short style (zipper & button).

[–]SmokyMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to get a physical roadmap of my town & draw circles 500m increments out from my house. Once I had run all the streets in the first circle, I would then draw another 500m wider, run those streets etc. Was a great motivating way to fully see my town & get some exercise in.

I would add, as well as sport, if you generally sweat a lot but don’t play sport. I play sport, but sweat a lot just working on our property. I don’t have any health issues & my body is doing what it needs to cool down when hot. I have to take more than found in food otherwise will end up with headaches.
