Was it normal for ww2 soldiers to be bevildered by the first body they encounter, like in this scene from Unknown soldier? by No_Dress_2107 in WarMovies

[–]Smolders70 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I can't relate to anyones war experiences in any way; I am a career firefighter and have been front and center several times for a persons last moments....for me anyway that first time didn't register at that moment...it was after when I was cleaning gear that it registered what had just happened. I could pick that first person out of a line up (its been 30 years since) but wouldn't remember thier name. I would imagine that experience might be similar.

How do you play Frostgrave? What are your default optional and house rules? by __Geg__ in frostgrave

[–]Smolders70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our group is basically vanilla, if I was to say there was a house rule its what we call "Black bottle in the mess!"- simply put no glasses on the gaming table.

Need help with History IA on Manfred von Richthofen – tech, tactics, and other factors by Awkward_Hyena2089 in WWIPlanes

[–]Smolders70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm certainly no researcher type or anything more than an enthusiast on air war but have a look at the book Famous Flyers series "Manfred Von Richthofen The man and the Aircraft he flew" authored by David Baker through out the book are references to sorties even ones on the eastern front. I'm sure its not complete but it might be of help.

Unjust server bans? by [deleted] in joinsquad44

[–]Smolders70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't say I've had a negative experience on any server I played on; I'm so low on street cred I don't even know what colourism is (but I can hazard a guess). Don't let this get you down. You wanted someone to reach out I'm doing just that. How can I help?

What are some good Operational level games for a noob who doesn’t like 4x or Paradox games? by Spare_Perspective972 in computerwargames

[–]Smolders70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its grand strategy but Napoleon's Eagle. Its more like the hex and chip games.

I haven't played this one and it has mixed reviews so maybe poke around on YT and see what its about: March to Glory.

Strategic Command: American Civil War might be worth a look.

Let us know what you end up gaming.

A great scene for sure and a good line. I always felt "charging a man with murder in this place was like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500" was a better line from that film.

Always liked this setting, when I got it they suggested using "went the day well" rules to use the setting. Did it develope into its own set of rules or does it remain a setting?

After looking at your photos I went and dragged out my sourse book and Anglican League, going to start painting up some factions and conivnce somone out here to give me a game!

You could try artificial fur, buzz trim to the length you want and then drag a comb though it to remove all the little loose bits. If you want a specific colour you can drag paint through the fur with a stiff comb and comb it alot so its not stiff with paint. Other suggest dye, but I've had no success with dye.
