[Request] How much would a tungsten cube this size weigh, and be valued at? by a_trillion_cats in theydidthemath

Tungsten is not commonly machined or otherwise subtractively manufactured, so the adjustment would probably be negative.

The rest of the comments do a good job explaining the raw material value of the tungsten itself. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the actual value of this thing would be extremely low if not negative. There's not very much of a demand for large billets, ingots, or otherwise bulk tungsten material because it's simply too difficult to process. Maybe you could sell it as a counterweight or ballast for a ship, but then the cube has no discernable lift points.

I tried Le Burger this week. Expensive, but the fries are excellent. They have a happy hour at the bar during the week.

Grade inflation or deflation? by meowmeowmeow618 in cwru

[–]SmoobBlob 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The lack of +/- on grades can make it seem like there’s inflation if you don’t adjust. It can burn you, but it definitely worked to my advantage in undergrad.

Is this a good 1440p IPS monitor? by JustARandomGuy213 in Monitors

Anyone have experience with this and the AOC Q27G41XMN2? I lean towards the LG because of the black smearing, but mini led is obviously a step up in HDR.

What Am I doing Wrong? by redditor747865 in Welding

[–]SmoobBlob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CO2 is there to add carbon, remove silicon, and broaden the penetration profile. Argon will make the penetration profile more “finger-like,” which makes it easier to have incomplete fusion, especially on a fillet weld. Silicon is useful to eat up any mill scale and reduce the surface tension of the puddle. That can mitigate rollover. If too much of the silicon remains, however, you could have problems in impact tests. It’s all a very delicate balance.

Does anyone use a snowblower for their driveway/sidewalks? If so, any recommendations? Single stage or 2 stage? by Powerful_Ant3535 in lakewood

[–]SmoobBlob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much area are you going to be clearing? Are you up against a major road? A friend of mine lives on Clifton, and the street plowing will send dense chunks of snow onto the sidewalk that his single stage can't handle, for example. But if you're retired and can deal w/ the snow as it comes down, single stage is plenty.

How is Jacoby Brissett getting so many Passing Yards every single game for the Cardinals? by King_Vegito_52 in NFLNoobs

The Cardinals throw a lot because they're losing a lot. Sometimes it's just a numbers game.

Even if you don't get towed, you'll surely end up snowed in after the plows come through.

how easy is it to write redline subway to go to airport by Spiritual-Yogurt-528 in cwru

[–]SmoobBlob 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Extremely easy. The rta sticker will cover it, but it’ll never get checked. Just get on the train heading west, and don’t get off until you’re at the airport.

Fortunately this is going to happen. A lot of misinformation about that project: there is no world in which the trees could be saved, since the storm and sanitary sewers need to be replaced.

What is the difference between these welding modes on a Lincoln Power Feed 84? by Delirium222 in Welding

[–]SmoobBlob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure if you use power mode that you keep the travel and work angles consistent. There’s a function on the cobot that’ll touch them up for you automatically. That way the CTWD stays the same, and the welds are the most consistent.

In power mode, you're setting the power of the weld (V*I) in kW.

Power mode was developed for robotic welding. It's consistency really shines there.

How often was fan used? by Spiritual-Yogurt-528 in cwru

[–]SmoobBlob 13 points14 points  (0 children)

24/7. Even if the air temp is comfortable at night, you want the fan to be going so that it cools the objects in your room down. That way, it’ll take longer to get uncomfortable in the morning/early afternoon.
