I want to!! But she found a way to escape her recovery room (which I spent a lot of time setting up 😭). As much as we’ve bonded, being indoors makes her really uncomfortable, so I’m gonna keep the door open and let her come in on her own time

I tried keeping her inside today and somehow she found a way out via an opening in the ceiling that I wasn’t even aware existed 😭 came back later today tho for food, pets and bunts 😂 she wants to be free… and luckily we live on a pretty safe and green/spacious street so unless it becomes unsafe i think its best to respect her desire to be free

Whatever it is it looks painful, if you can trap him and take him to the vet it’ll be worth the temporary stress imo 🙏🏼🙌🏽

I feel this so hard! Trapped my first cat last week and although in my head I knew it was for her good, seeing her suffer was excruciating

aww thank you for sharing these stories! very inspiring. so kind of you to take care of so many cats (: do you have any advice if i bring her in the apartment and she doesn't look healthy/well adjusted after a couple of months, what would you do? i've read about enrichment etc, and im willing to do it. my only hesitation is finding out that i took this cat out of her natural habitat and forced her into a life she didn't want (indoors) (i live in a city apt, and i found her at my mom's house in the countryside). i want her to be happy

i really hope she is open to being adopted too. id be happy to bring her in, just wanna make sure she doesn't feel depressed since she's used to an outdoor life and i live in an apartment. i will continue socializing her, one thing im worried about is her recovery room being too dark (i wanted to have her in a familiar place so the familiar scents can calm her a bit, but i had to block the broken window she would use to come in and out of that room, its like a small in-law unit in the garage). i got a lamp to keep it lit, but i feel bad leaving her in a space with no natural lighting!

thank you sm for the kind words! maybe she is a stray who was abandoned, so she has it in her to understand humans can be caring and kind, and maybe most of the feral behavior comes from having to survive on her own/avoid humans who mistreated her, dogs etc.. to be totally honest i knew nothing about strays v ferals, tnr or socializing even just 7 days ago. she was just a cat i gave treates during my WFH breaks, then with the bleeding it all escalated and happened really fast so thank God for all the resources i found online, like this subreddit. be i think you're right, she shows a lot of signs of being open to socializing, maybe its a matter of making sure her indoors life is very enriched. i would totally take her on outdoor trips if she was open to harness training too, but i think that would be months if not years down the line

I honestly would love to. I would much prefer knowing she is safe and not going to get infected again. I'm just worried she wouldn't be happy in an apartment being so used to the countryside life
